Joint Redbridge Manager Dave Ross pays his respects to ex-Ilford and Barking star Victor Omogbehin who died on monday.

Non League fans and players were shocked to learn of the sudden death of Victor Omogbehin on Monday.

Victor, who also played for Barking FC, had spent the last two seasons with Ilford FC before joining Waltham Forest in pre-season.

An ultra skillful, pacy winger with an eye for goal Victor was a handful for defenders and was well known on the Non League scene in London.

Although his last season with Ilford was blighted by injury he returned from a three month lay off in February this year to notch five goals in twelve games in a six week period which went some way to securing Ilford’s place in the Ryman league for another season. One of those goals was the winner at the Oakside for Ilford in a 2-1 victory.

Our Joint Manager Dave Ross knew Victor whilst managing at Barking for several years and was saddened by news of the player's death.

Ross said: “Victor played under me for many years at Barking both in the reserves and first team.

“I am absolutely devastated by this very sad news.

“He was an extremely popular lad and probably one of the most talented players I have ever had the pleasure to manage.”

Everyone at Redbridge sends their condolences to his family and close friends.
