The Motormen produced a fantastic second half display to earn themselves a third pre-season win out of four. Although, the opposition were a league higher on the day their superiority wasn’t on display.
Redbridge started the game a little on edge. East Thurrock had a lot of the ball but did not create any chances to really test Redbridge. This was the story for most of the first half. A battle in midfield, which saw both teams cancel one another out.
The second half saw a fresh pairing up front for the Motormen, Lee Springer and Danny Tenkorang . Both of them were soon at the heart of everything for Redbridge. East Thurrock didn’t quite know how to deal with them. It was chance after chance but for all their good work, Redbridge just couldn’t find the back of the net. A rare East Thurrock attack led to them striking the post but that was the only real scare for Redbridge.
After missing a handful of chances, the 70th minute saw Danny Tenkorang go through with only the keeper to beat. With the ball at the perfect height, Tenkorang saw the keeper of his line and calmly lifted it over him to give Redbridge the win.
The second half proved how far this group of lads have come in the last few weeks. They could have maybe scored a few more goals but overall the back five looked well disciplined. The midfield was commanding and the frontmen were causing havoc. Another major boost was to see Zubair Haleem at the ground, who has confirmed he will start his training this week, much to the delight of many Redbridge fans. So far everything at the Oakside is going well and long may it continue.
