Ryman Cup Exit

Ryman Cup Exit

Adam Silver4 Sep 2013 - 11:59

Redbridge were knocked out the Robert Dyas Sponsored League Cup going down 3-1 to Ryman Premier Side Enfield Town, our goal from Lee Springer.

Redbridge bowed out of the Robert Dyas cup after Ryman Premier League side Enfield Town proved to be too strong for them.

It took just four minutes for the game to get its first goal. A teasing cross from the right flank was met by Jermaine Osie at the back post, whose looping header found the back of the net.

Redbridge almost immediately replied, a good exchange between Zubair Haleem and Les Thompson saw the latter find some space down the right side and he produced a good low cross for Emiel Aiken who tamely shot into the keepers arms.

A couple of minutes later and Enfield doubled their lead, the Motormen failed to deal with a quick freekick and it saw Corey Whitley produce a sublime lob to beat the outrushing Dean Driscoll.

Redbridge would've counted themselves lucky only going two down at the half as Enfield could've had a few more quite easily.

The second half bought a change for Redbridge as Haleem was replaced by Ben Bradbury and the system was reverted to 4-4-2.

This seemed to spark some life into the team and the crowd. Just ten minutes in and Redbridge had their goal.

Bradbury found Lee springer at the back post who had the simple task of picking a spot with his head, he did just that.

Two minutes later Springer should've tied the game up, A wonderful turn and an injection of pace got him clear but instead of hitting his shot early he took an extra touch which allowed the defender to get back.

On the 68th minute, against the run of play, Enfield's Whitley produced a scorcher from the edge of the box to double his tally for the night.

Redbridge threw everything to redeem themselves but it proved too little too late. This weekend we travel to top of the table AFC Sudbury and a performance like the one we saw in the first half will prove costly.

It's time to put these cup exits behind us and continue the good form we have showed in the last couple of league matches.
