Most of the home side’s attacking early on came down the right flank through Lawrence Amadi and it was his cross which found William Drake who made no mistake as he fired home on 16 minutes.

Just after the goal they had a lucky escape when Joe Killingback took the ball around Mark Parker in goal but Redbridge defenders got back in numbers to clear the danger.

The away side ended the half the stronger as they went in search of the equaliser and a long range effort by Ricky Tarbard went just over the bar.

Into the 2nd half and ex Motorman Glen Golby saw his header flash just wide as he got up highest to meet a corner.

Drake then saw his effort fizz over the bar before he was then bundled down in the box under a heavy challenge from Michael Sherwood which resulted in the defender being shown a red card.

It was Drake who got himself to take the penalty in the absence of leading goal scorer Jay Knight but his effort lacked power and was saved low down by Michael Green in goal.

The home side with the extra man advantage started to create further chances but were unable to add another goal and they were punished as in the final minute’s substitute Joseph Omogiate headed home.

With no extra time the match headed straight to a penalty shoot out and with each side missing one of their first five it then went to sudden death and after Jamie Alexandrou scored Mark Parker stood tall to save Barking’s 7th attempt.

Redbridge will now host the winners of the Clapton/VCD Athletic tie in the next round.
