The Motormen travelled to Cricklefields for the return league fixture against Ilford also referred to as the 169 derby.
Ilford had won that previous encounter 4-3 in an entertaining match and the fans watching were hoping to see just as good a game this time around.
An early chance came for the home side when Aziz Kanu fired wide after a corner.
Redbridge then attacked down the left flank and Aron Gordon whipped in a cross which found Jay Knight whose touch let him down and Ilford were able to clear.
The deadlock was broken on 15 minutes when a long throw in caught out the Redbridge back line and found Ryan Ramsey all alone in space.
He thumped his effort past a stranded Jake Mernagh to give the home side the lead , it certainly was a well taken finish.
Ilford full back Luke Thomas then got forward well and picked up a good crossfield pass before drilling his effort wide.
On 29 minutes Redbridge got their equaliser and what a good goal it was. Captain Adam Hunt released David Sangolo who beat Chris Clark in the Ilfore goal to the ball before squaring it back across the area finding Knight who got infront of his marker and had the simple task of tapping home.
Goals can often change games and that certainly seemed to be the case here as Redbridge started to boss the match having good efforts through Gordon one of which required Clark to pull off a good save.
Clark was beaten moments later but the upright came to Ilford's rescue after a fine attempt from Reside Coxi-Saebastfao.
The away side stared the second half in the same vane as they ended the first and an early chance saw Clark get down low to make the save.
Ilford then believed they had scored when a free kick was floated in and seemed to evade everyone including Mernagh but was cleared off the line by a Redbridge defender although the home bench seemed to think perhaps the ball may have crossed the line(no goal line technology here I'm afraid).
Straight back at the other end and Ore Odutola saw his header just clear the bar before a long range Hunt effort flew wide.
The deserved goal did then come after good hold up play by Knight found Coxi-Sebastfao who passed his effort into the back of the net.
Their was no let up for Ilford as Redbridge again came forward and it was the post once again which saved them this timr from a Christian Baffour-Ekoto header.
However against the run of play it seemed that the home side would get back into the match when a penalty was awarded after Ajay Ashnike tumbled in the box.
Up stepped Lindispho Mytanda but his penalty was weak and Mernagh managed to get down well and make the save.
He then managed another save from the same player but this time was also able to hold onto the ball.
With time running out and Ilford pushing forward a long ball upfield looked like it would be cleared however Redbridge substitute Jacob Dingli never gave up on the cause and got in between defender and keeper before his effort squeezed in just kissing the post.
It was no more than the away side deserved in which was one of their strongest performances of the season thus far and moves them up above their opponents into 13th position.
