Quick Start Sees Off Bari

Adam Silver13 Nov 2016 - 08:46

Three early 1st half goals was enough to beat London Bari in a 4-2 victory, our goals from Dingli, Hunt(pen), Odutola and McCann.

At a soggy Oakside the match was deemed fit for play after an earlier pitch inspection had been passed.

Redbridge were looking to continue their good form at home and started with the same side which had beat Waltham Forest 3-1 midweek except for one change with Marcus Carter coming back in for Joao Rodrigues although Samuel Phillips took a knock in the warm up which saw him replaced with James Mccann.

London Bari had an early dangerous free kick which went wide but it was the home side who took an early lead with just three minutes on the clock.

Joe Gent was sent free down the right wing and his early cross found Jacob Dingli in space and the striker had time to control turn and then shoot past the diving Wilkinson Boateng.

Moments later captain Adam Hunt had a long range effort which Boateng was able to get down to and push away to safety.

Bryan Kyungu then released Gent once again and although his cross was at first collected by Boateng he then dropped the ball into the path of Dingli and in then trying to get it back he was adjudged to have brought down the player and a penalty was awarded.

Up stepped penalty taker Hunt who made no mistake from the spot, 2-0 Redbridge.

Bari's head had now dropped and just three minutes later it was three after a Gent corner was met by a thumping header from Ore Odutola which was the defender’s first goal for Redbridge.

Although Redbridge were looking dangerous on the attack any hopes of a clean sheet were soon dashed as Richmond Ayoola found the net for Bari on 18 minutes as he headed home a Shaffick Anolabi cross.

The goal seemed to bring some belief back to the away side and they went close to another goal when Anolabi crossed finding Joel Appiah who got to the ball first but poked his effort just wide.

Bari were now slightly on top however the Motormen scored again when Terrell Miller did well down the left flank releasing Dingli who looked up and sent in his floating cross finding the head of James Mccann who was able to cushion his header into the back of the net.

A great chance soon followed for a Redbride 5th when Kyungu found Dingli who had time to find his spot but he ended up firing straight at Boateng.

A comical moment then followed which almost saw Redbridge goalkeeper Mernagh score as his long punt up field was missed by the Bari keeper but he redeemed himself as managed to run back and clear the ball just before it crossed the line.

An early chance in the 2nd half for Bari as Kyungu lost possession in midfield and Ayoola picked up the ball and run through on goal but his effort went wide.

Redbridge seemed to take their foot off the gas and in doing so allowed Ayoola to stride forward and his cross was turned in at the far post by Appiah to make it 4-2.

A great chance for Redbridge to score as substitute David Sangolo cut inside from out wide finding Hunt who smashed his effort against a post and the follow up by Dingli was well saved by the legs of Boateng.

It was now end to end as only the crossbar saved the home side as Bari pushed forward hoping they could still get back in the game. They almost did when good work by Appiah saw him turn in the box before his curling effort went just wide of the post.

The same player then broke forward and his shot looked destined for the bottom corner but out of knowhere Charlie Parish dived into to clear the ball away for a corner.

A rare break in the 2nd period from the home side saw Dingli put in Miller who curled a shot against the post and away to safety before both sides had further efforts spurned before the referee called time on proceedings
