2nd Half Turnaround at Waltham Forest

Adam Silver10 Nov 2016 - 09:55

Redbridge came back from a goal down to win 2-1 at Waltham Forest thanks to 2nd half goals from Bryan Kyungu and Adam Hunt.

On a chilly night at Wadham Lodge the two sides met again for their third encounter of the season with the matches currently ties at 1 win a piece.

The home side started on the front foot with Jordan McKenzie testing Jake Mernagh early on.

The first chance for the Motormen almost led to a goal when a charging run up field by Terrell Miller whom squares to Jacob Dingli whom flicked the ball into the path of Samuel Phillips.

He controlled brilliantly and although his effort looped over Josh Strizovic in goal a it dropped down against the post and away for a corner.

The resulting corner was swung in finding the head of Ore Odutola but he was unable to keep his header down and it crept over the bar

Redbridge were looking the side most likely to score but were given a scare when Waltham Forest hit the crossbar from a corner.

This led to a spell of home pressure which led to the opening goal being scored after 29 minutes after a corner was headed back across goal finding the head of Harry Larbert who found the back of the net.

Redbridge came back through Dingli who held off his marker before tuning and shooting straight at Strizovic.

The final chance of the half also came to the away side as the lively Miller ran onto a floated pass from Joao Rodrigues before cutting inside and shooting requiring a good save from Strizovic however he did have better options available to him.

Redbridge came out in the 2nd half and would have felt unfortunate they were behind on the chances they created but soon got themselves level and what a good goal it was.

Bryan Kyungu ran up field beating a couple of Forest players before playing a neat one two passing move with Adam Hunt before picking up the return and firing home.

Waltham Forest were still pushing forward through the dangerous Charlie Yexley and he found Rheo Josephs who shot wide.

It was a costly miss as Redbridge turned the match around after 66 minutes when Hunt picked up a loose ball 25 yards out before looking up and drilling his curling effort into the bottom corner of the goal.

Forest then had a dangerous free kick cleared before Phillips for Redbridge won possession in midfield before releasing Hunt who fired over the bar.

Josephs then spurned a great opportunity for the home side before they had the ball cleared off the line however a foul on the keeper had been given.

Hunt then had a great chance to make it 3-1 but he agonisingly saw his long effort rebound back off a post with Strizovic beaten.

Forest ended the game strongly as they tried to find the equaliser bit solid defending from Redbridge withstood the pressure.

The match sadly ended on a sour note as a challenge between Mernagh and Josephs saw the Forest player drop to the ground unconscious prompting players and staff from both sides to quickly attend to him and after a lengthy delay he was eventually stretchered off and an ambulance was called.
