Redbridge up to 2nd

Adam Silver5 Oct 2017 - 08:35

The Motormen made it six wins from six with a 3-1 win over Wadham Lodge and are now up to 2nd in the table.

The hosts went into this fixture full of confidence after winning their previous five league fixtures and were able to make five changes to the starting line up against a Wadham Lodge side who had picked up just two wins so far this campaign.

It was no surprise to see the home side start on the front foot and they had the first chance when a deep corner fell to Remi Nelson who looked up before curling his effort which just clipped the bar and went away to safety for Wadham.

The away side were then presented with a great chance which fell to Chris Fill but his fierce shot was well saved by Lewis Greene.

At the other end Brian Moses was through but failed to get any power in his shot which was easily gathered by Ryan Karrer in the Wadham goal.

The deadlock was broken after 15 minutes whe Calvin Poku found Moses and without the striker breaking stride he shot first time into the corner of the net leaving Karrer rooted to the spot.

It was so nesrly two after great work by Moses saw him squarw the ball finding the run of Tommie Tuner who had his shot saved by the feet of Karrer and turned away for a corner.

All the play was now with the home side and it was not long before it became 2-0.

A lovely cross field pass from Malaki Toussaint found Reside Coxi-Sebastfao who cut inside before finding Poku in space who had time to fire home.

With half time approaching 2 became 3 as direct from a free kick Malaki Toussaint floated the ball over the wall and beating Karrer at near post.

The 2nd half started much slower than the first and Redbridge were unable to show the same cutting edge which they had produced in the opening 45 mins.

Wadham Lodge did think they had pulled a goal back however the official ruled it offside but they were not to be denied what was their consolation when Naaman Gordon headed home straight from a corner leaving Redbridge still searching for that elusive clean sheet.

Late chances for the home side from Coxi Sebastfao and Lindisipho Mytanda failed to increase the score line before full time was blown.

Redbridge equalled their best league form in 9 years and now move up to 2nd in the table on goal difference as they look to continue their good run away at Southend Manor on Saturday.
