Winning Run Continues Against Foxes

Winning Run Continues Against Foxes

Adam Silver20 Sep 2017 - 19:21

Redbridge made it 5 wins on the spin as they overcome local rivals Ilford 5-1, goals from Moses(2), Poku(2) and Homans.

In form Redbridge entertained their local rivals Ilford in a match also referred to as the "169 derby"

The first attempt came via the the home side through Joshua Hutchinson who cut in from the right but his shot lacked power and was easily gathered by Chris Clark in the Ilford goal.

Redbridge continued to attack and this time good play down the left flank through Reside Coxi-Sebastfao saw him cut inside and curl his effort wide of the post.

The Morormen were controlling the early stages and deservedly went ahead after 15 minutes.

A cross was put into the box leading to a mix up in the Ilford back line which saw goalkeeper Clark fumble allowing the ball to eventually land at the feet of Brian Moses who blasted home.

The first chance for Ilford came through a Chris Lockwood free kick which required Lewis Greene in the home goal to be alert and tip over.
Redbridge again attacked with purpose and Moses fed in Hutchinson who rounded the keeper but was unable to prevent the ball from going out of play.

The best chance for the away side saw Sam Baffour sprint down the wing before crossing into the path of Khadean Campbell who saw his effort go agonisingly wide.

It was then almost 2-0 as Hutchinson played in Coxi-Sebastfao who was about to pull the trigger before Ilford defender Isaac Nkosi made a superb last ditch tackle to prevent what seemed a certain goal.

Redbridge then almost gifted their opponents a goal as Vinny Murphy was far too casual in trying to clear and allowed Campbell to steal the ball and run in on goal but shot straight into the arms of Greene.

That miss was punished by Redbridge as a delightful through ball from Moses found the run of Calvin Poku and as Clarke came out bearing down he lifted a sublime lob over the keepers head which dropped down into the net.

There was still time remaining in the first half for both sides to have a chance but the score stayed 2-0 at the break.

The first chance of the 2nd period fell to Ilford's Sherwin Stanley who saw his effort comfortably saved.

Moses then found himself through on goal but tried to do what Poku had done earlier in the game however his effort lacked the finesse and Clarke was able to make the save.

Ilford had a good chance to pull one back as a Lockwood free kick found the head of Billy Rix who headed just wide.

A lovely move for the home side then made it 3-0, a ball was switched from one side to the other allowing full back Sam Sheppard to whip in a cross finding the towering Moses who directed his header into the top corner of the net

A free kick from Ilford was flashed wide by Isaac Nkosi before Poku broke free only to see his attempt saved before the rebound fell to substitute Lindisipho Mytanda who fired goal wards buy Clarke once again was equal to it.

It was shortly four for Redbridge as a back pass to Clarke was missed and seized upon by Poku who simply waltzed pass him and was able to fire home into an empty net.

Ilford did finally get their consolation goal after James Peagrams strike was spilled by Greene into the path of substitute Jamie Hart who could not miss.

It was the home side who did have the final say as substitute Courtney Homans shot against the post before the ball came back and hit the keeper before finally crossing the line.

Overall it was another strong performance by Redbridge which sees their winning run continue and gives them confidence going into their FA Vase for on Saturday against Coggeshall Town.
