The Motormen hosted already relegated and bottom of the league Hackney Wick knowing nothing of short a win would do if they were to keep their distant promotion dream alive. At the same time they would have had one ear on other matches taking place as required a massive helping hand from fellow sides Basildon and FC Romania who if either were to win could not be caught due to their vast goal difference.
The early stages saw the Motormen passing the ball around well and good work out wide by Joshua Hutchinson saw him beat his man before putting in a dangerous cross which was cleared away for a corner.
It took 11 minutes before we saw the first shot on target as Dan Gilchrist found Remi Nelson who had time to control the ball before looking up and firing an effort which he dragged wide of the upright.
The first chance for Wick came after Nelson cheaply gave away possession allowing Saico Djop to travel with the ball before trying his luck but his shot was well held by the Redbridge keeper.
Redbridge skipper Eljay Worrell then saw his shot take a nasty bounce on the wet surface which almost caught out Wick goalkeeperTom Dixon.
The away side then came forward once again when Nelson Dinh found himself through on goal but was quickly crowded out by the home defence.
Patrick Duggan then took a free kick which curled past the Hackney Wick wall but bounced back off a post into the path of Brian Moses who was only able to head the rebound over the bar.
Reside Coxi-Sebastfao was then brought down resulting in another free kick and it was the same player Duggan but this time the ball hit the other post before being cleared away to safety.
After 29 minutes and against the run of play the away side took the lead after a free kick was swung in finding Dihn unmarked in the box and he had time to fire into the back of the net, a goal which was certainly not in the script.
Worrell then found Gilchrist who poked it through for Moses but the keeper just got there first to prevent the tall striker from connecting with the ball. Moses again was in the thick of the action as he swooped low to head a Vinnie Murphy cross but it was straight into the arms of Tom Dixon.
From a hackney corner Tony Cookey brought the ball down and created space for himself to find a shooting opportunity which went just wide of the target.
The half ended as Moses ran onto a Duggan pass which was misjudged by a Wick defender but his shot lacked any real power effort and was comfortably saved
The first chance of the second half once again fell to Moses who fired over before Redbridge made a hash of clearing their lines as Murphy took too long to clear the ball allowing Wick to steal possession but they failed to capitalize
A good chance for the away side when Prince Yeboah fired a low effort which just fizzed wide of the far post as they looked to double their advantage whilst the Motormen were lacking in urgency.
The much needed equaliser however finally came on 57 minutes when Coxi-Sebastfao beat his man twice then crossed into the middle which was only partially cleared into the past of Nelson who fired past a crowd of players into the corner of the net.
The goal gave the home side the confidence as they were now suddenly on top and should have scored when Worrell floated in a lovely cross finding Hutchinson all alone at the far post but he missed the target when it seemed much easier to score.
Gilchrist then saw a shot well tipped over by Dixon before he was on hand to score when good work by Moses saw him beat his man before squaring into the box finding the striker who could not miss from close range.
Redbridge continued to pile on the pressure and only a flying save from Dixon denied substitute Thomas Gogo after he fired an effort on goal after good work by Hutchinson.
Moses then ran in on goal before finding Calvin Poku who could not keep his shot down before the same player found another sub in Phillip Browne-Bamfpoe who had time to look up and find his spot however he shot too close to the keeper.
The final whistle then blew as Redbridge came from behind to pick up the 3 points however with other results coming through it now means a top two finish will be out of our hands and we travel to Basildon United on Wednesday evening for a crunch match knowing a win would secure 3rd place and with it an outside chance of promotion.
