Both sides agreed to play this fixture 24 hours after its original intended date which was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch however the extra time and with no further rain meant the game went ahead.
Redbridge now in 3rd needed the points to chase the two sides above them and get their title challenge back on track.
The first chance fell to the home side but Tom Woodbridge fired wide from a good position.
Redbridge started to soon get on top however were caught offside on several occasions as they looked to get forward.
A fortunate deflection fell to Brian Moses who fired his effort at goal which hit a defender and went out for the corner.
Michael Mignot then was able to shoot and turn for West Essex but Lewis Greene in goal made the save.
The away side continued to pressure and were rewarded with the opening goal on 20 minutes. Moses stole the ball from a defender and ran in on goal before seeing his shot at first saved by Jack Coker before being able to poke the rebound home as he literally walked the ball over the line.
The home side tried their luck with a free kick which found Woodbridge who got infront of Greene but was unable to get his shot on target.
Moses at the other end then had a chance to control turn and shoot which was deflected wide for a corner.
The resulting kick went to Liam Thomas who turned in the box before being upended leaving the referee no choice but to point to the spot.
Thomas Gogo stepped up rifling home into the corner of the net to double the advantage.
The home side did not give up and were still trying to play football and pulled a goal back when Redbridge lost possession in a dangerous area and failed to clear their lines allowing Woodbridge to drill home.

The second period began with Gogo trying his luck from distance but Coker held firm.
The two goal advantage however was soon restored when Moses outmuscled his marker and crossed into Tommie Turner who had time and space to pick his spot and fire home.
Joshua Hutchinson then swung in a cross finding Moses who flicked the ball goalwards almost catching out the keeper.
A lucky escape followed for Redbridge when a cross was headed against the corner of the crossbar and post before being headed back safely into the arms of Greene.
Much of Redbridge play continued to come down the right flank and this time Hutchinson did well before squaring to Philip Browne-Bamfpoe who should have done better but only managed to fire high over the bar.
West Essex came forward again and were awarded a penalty when Gogo fouled his man inside the penalty area. Up stepped Michael Mignot who made no mistake and made it interesting once more with 12 mins to play.
Redbridge from the kick off went straight up the other end through substitute Adam Hunt who crossed into the path of Moses who volleyed home his second of the match to make it 4-2.
Redbridge continued to attack and Moses fired across the area to Gogo who failed to connect when only needing a touch.
Moses again in the thick of action released Hunt who shot the wrong side of the post before the referee called time on proceedings.
A good 3 points for the Motormen as they now go into Saturday's massive title clash at FC Romania.
