Holland and Redbridge took to the field for the inaugural Len Cordell Memorial Cup Final in the familiar surroundings of the Oakside Stadium.
Redbridge had plenty of the ball in the early stages as Holland were happy for them to play the ball along their back line. Ayub Kadiri looked lively whenever receiving the ball and he won his side an early free kick 25 yards outside from goal.
Jack Chawner stepped up and although his effort curled around the wall it hit a post and rebounded away allowing a Holland defender to clear the danger.
Holland were then forced into an early change when Mason Lumley-Ridgway had to be replaced after picking up an injury, they then had their first meaningful attack when Toby Harms played in Reuben Cowler who saw his cross defended away for the first corner of the match.
Kadiri and Abdishakur Farah on the opposite side were giving Holland plenty to think about with their pace and trickery and it was a teasing cross from Kadiri which was begging to be hit however managed to evade everyone in a blue shirt
Redbridge were controlling possession and winning most of the second balls however unable to take advantage of their dominance as they lacked that cutting edge.
Jake Brocklebank then won a free kick which he stepped up to take but could only divert straight into the arms of Luke Avenell.
Farah was then brought down , this time Tony Martin stood over the ball but his effort sailed the wrong side of the post.
Against the run of play Holland went up the other end and opened the scoring, a free kick was swung in by Kieran Michaels which was headed away falling into the path of Willoughby who connected well and volleyed past the dive of George Martin.
Holland buoyed by their goal were now having their best spell of the game and Martin had to be alert to deny Harry Willoughby a second as he parried the shot before claiming the loose ball.
The second half continued in the same vein as the first with the Motormen pushing forward however the Holland back line were well organised and keeping their shape well.
A Brocklebank corner was swung in and knocked across goal finding Olamiji Ayoola who somehow managed to head over from virtually the goal line, it was certainly a big chance wasted.
They were almost made to pay for the miss when Willoughby showed good work down the left before crossing the ball over into the middle which hit against an orange shirt and lifted just over the bar, it was the closest they came to a second and certainly would have been difficult for Redbridge to come back from that,
A good run by Kadiri saw him beat several Holland players before he drifted into the box and hot his shot away which required Avenell to parry the ball away to safety.
Substitute Fish then fell to the ground looking at the referee who turned any penalty appeals away before at the other end Ayoola was shown a yellow card for blocking a Holland player’s run , their bench reacted angrily to the decision expecting to see a red card be shown.
Willoughby got forward confronted by two Redbridge defenders , he did well to create a shooting opportunity however the ball drifted the wrong side of the upright.
Substitute Sonny Fish was getting involved first working his way into the box however only succeeded in finding the side netting before he was put through on goal by Tony Martin but saw his effort turned away for a corner.
Fellow substitute Josh Sykes showed good strength to hold the ball up finding Martin who floated the ball into the box looking for the run of Bradley Bennett who was just beaten to the ball by Avenell.
Into the 89th minute and another substitute in Jack Roult then won his side a corner , it was knocked into the middle and out of play however the referee was then alerted by his assistant on the far side, after much discussion a penalty was awarded much to the delight of the Redbridge contingency
Up stepped Jake Brocklbank who kept his nerve to find the back of the net and levelled up the score , with extra time looming Sykes could have won the match but his shot was superbly saved by Avenell.
Into extra time and the first chance fell to Holland when the ball was back heeled across the penalty area and hacked away by a Redbridge defender.
Fish fired over as Redbridge looked the stronger of the two sides as Holland started to show signs of tiredness. Straight from kick off in the second period of added time Holland were reduced to ten men when Louis Olymbios was shown a second yellow card for an over the top challenge on Ayoola and sent to the bench.
Roult won a free kick outside the area which Chawner fired into the Holland wall, the ball was then played out wide into the path of Roult who fired low and wide past the despairing dive of Avenell and into the far corner of the net.
Redbridge were making the most of having the extra man as they held firm seeing out the final minutes before the full time whistle was blown which sees them pick up their first silverware since becoming Redbridge back in 2005 and how fitting that it was done in memory of their former match day secretary Len Cordell who would have no doubt been looking down on the victory.
