Redbridge hosted Eastern Senior league side Enfield Borough in the 1st Qualifying Round of the Isuzu FA Vase at a sunny Oakside.
The away side showing their early intentions as they came forward from the off and had a shot within the first 20 seconds when Adam Al-Asfii blasted over.
Enfield were then guilty of giving the ball in a dangerous area which was quickly picked up by Solomon Ogunwomoju but his though ball failed to find anyone in a blue shirt and the chance was soon gone.
In a quick paced game Enfield then broke up field through the lively Walid Hirsi, he found Rindie Imponse who crossed first time into the box but failed to find anyone in a red shirt.
Enfield was looking the more dangerous of the two sides early on and Connor Whealtey in goal had to be alert to palm away a cross from their skipper Darrell Wopara.
At the other end Ogunwomoju cut inside a defender before seeing his low effort just go wide of the upright before a big chance went begging when Miles Peterkin got on the end of a cross but from an unmarked position only managed to head wide.
The deadlock was finally broken on 28 minutes as the home side went in front, Peterkin made amends for his earlier miss as he got on the end of a through ball before showing good strength to hold off a defender before shooting fiercely past Joseph Parker.
Going in front soon gave Redbridge an extra swing in their step; Chawner yet again from a free kick tried his luck which beat the ball but Parker was equal to it in goal.
Peterkin then showed good pace to get in front of a defender before rounding Parker before seeing his shot drop just the wrong side of the post however a raised flag from the assistant meant it would have not counted.
It was all now one way traffic as Josh Olukolo saw his first time shot well saved before a Jake Brocklebank corner found Bradley Bennett who drilled an effort just wide.
As the half time whistle approached Enfield would have been disappointed to have conceded again, good work was shown by Brocklebank to keep the ball alive before he crossed to Ogunwomoju who bundled his way through rounding the keeper before slotting home.
Into the second half and no let up in play from the home side as Bennett came forward before seeing his shot well saved
Another wasted chance for Redbridge, Ogunwomoju did well to play in Peterkin who chose to shoot first time when he had time on his side however he lacked composure and the ball went sailing over when it seemed easier to score.
Further chances went begging for the home side and they were soon made to pay when from a free kick Enfield pulled a goal back, Georgi Steed effort took a massive deflection which saw the ball look up over Wheatley in goal to bring Enfield back into the contest when they should have been well out of sight.
Fortunately for the home side they restored their two goal advantage within two minutes when Peterkin was through and as he tried to lob the ball goal wards he was brought crashing down leaving the referee no option but to award a penalty.
Up stepped Ogunwomoju to slot home his second of the game to knock the stuffing out of Enfield who in fairness to them never let their heads drop.
Peterkin rubbed further salt into their wounds as he stabbed home from close range to add some final gloss to the proceedings as the full time whistle then blew , the home side comfortably through to the 2nd qualifying round where they will host another Eastern Senior side this time in Wivenhoe Town.
