REDBRIDGE TURN ON THE STYLE
Redbridge made a strong start to the second half and quickly restored their two-goal cushion. A corner caused havoc in a crowded penalty area, and Abdulai Sarr rose to head home and make it 3–1.
Day came close to adding another for the visitors when he met a corner with a header that drifted just wide.
Substitute Jake Clowsley then tested Greene with a shot straight at the Redbridge goalkeeper, who remained alert to deal with the danger. Redbridge responded at the other end, and Charles Brown-Bampoe added his name to the scoresheet, guiding a shot into the corner via the post to extend the advantage.
Clowsley was denied again by Greene, who produced another important stop, before the Motormen went on the attack once more. Mills curled an effort narrowly over the crossbar as Redbridge continued to threaten.
The lively winger finally got the goal his performance deserved. Intercepting a short back-pass, Mills showed his pace to outstrip a defender before rounding Pipa and slotting into an empty net to make it five.
Stewart almost added another after showing lovely skill to drag the ball past a defender, but his shot was too close to the goalkeeper.
There was still time for Regent to grab a late consolation. Captain Charlie Durling turned smartly inside the box before firing past Greene to complete the scoring at 5–2.
There was to be no comeback for the visitors, however, as Redbridge saw out the remainder of the contest to secure a convincing victory and progress to the fourth round.
The Motormen will now turn their attention to Friday's draw, knowing they are just one step closer to another memorable Essex Senior Cup campaign.
