A last minute goal gave Romford all 3 points in a match which saw the Motormen end with nine players.
Romford started bright and a cross was flashed across the area but Nick Reynolds just failed to get a touch with the open net beckoning.
They were rocked however when on 11 minutes Brian Moses picked up the ball and moved into the Romford half evading a couple of challenges before putting an exquisite pass into the path of Shane Wallace who waited for the out coming Aaron Omand in goal to go down before coolly slotting the ball past him.
The home side started to put some pressure on the Redbridge defence putting in several good crosses one of which from Abs Seymour found Tom Richards but his diving headed effort was palmed away by Mark Parker in goal and the away side went into the break with the goal lead.
Into the 2nd period and Romford started to waste some good opportunities before after 68 minutes they did eventually draw level when a corner was headed home by the unmarked captain Jack Barry.
The remainder of the half was uneventful until in the final minute Patrick Damali saw red for throwing the ball at an opponent, this led to players from both sides becoming involved leading to a further four yellow card being shown.
One of those cards went to Redbridge’s Wallace and moments later he brought down a Romford player just outside the box and the referee was left with little option but to show him a second yellow and off he went leaving the Motormen to play out the final minutes with nine men.
Surely things would not get any worse but unfortunately up popped ex Barkingside man Ryan Imbert to score with literally the last kick of the game.
Redbridge only had themselves to blame for what can only be said was throwing away the match and with no match at the weekend will need to be prepared for next week’s visit of Ware.
