On a proper non league type pitch in which both penalty areas were extremely muddy meant we were treated to a number of goal mouth scrambles, unfortunately none led to goals.
The opening stages was a real battle with neither side being able to create any clear cut chances. The first opportunity fell to Aaron Scott but his shot was well wide of Danny Sambridge's goal. The next chance fell the way of Heybridge but Joe Pearman's shot couldn't match his initial fine footwork as his effort flew wide of the far post. Heybridge took the lead on 43 minutes, Reece Morgan made a great run at the near post, picking the ball up he turned and hit a tame shot towards goal but it was enough to creep under Mark Parker as it someone evaded the Redbridge shot stopper to give the visitors the advantage. The hosts were level minutes later when Patrick Damali struck a 35 yard shot that took that a massive deflection off Moshood Olafunmishe and looped over Sambridge leaving him helpless to ensure the sides were all square at the break.
Redbridge were attacking the muddier of the two penalty area's in the second half and started like a house on fire and should have taken the lead just minutes into the second period but Shane Wallace's shot was saved well down low by Sambridge. Minutes later it was Parker who kept the scores level. The big man made himself big to saved with his legs to deny Chris Bryan.
On 84 minutes sub Brian Moses who had only been on the pitch for a matter of minutes received a pass from Chinedu McKenzie racing down the right side before hitting a ferocious shot that flew under the legs of Sambridge to spark wild scenes at Oakside and give the Motormen their third win in five but their first since the middle of December. Heybridge pressed forward late on but didn't force Parker into any saves and Redbridge held on for a much needed victory.
