Early pressure from the away side as both Nathan Page and Ryan Hawkins saw their efforts go wide before spurning a great opportunity when Redbridge lost possession in their own box and the ball fell invitingly to Toby Hilliard who tried to place his shot but much to the relief of Mark Parker in goal the ball went wide.
The home side never learnt from their earlier mistake and moments later once again tried to play the ball around their own box before a misplaced pass fell to Ryan Crisp who had all the time in the world to place the ball into the net and give his side an early lead.
Dereham were now well on top and minutes later and it should have been two but this time Hawkins saw his effort blocked by the oncoming Parker.
Redbridge had their first real effort when good work between Carlos Epsirito Santo and Jacob Cleaver saw the ball fall to Mark Nougher who swept his effort wide.
Still the chances continued to fall to Dereham and this time Matt Howard saw his effort fire just wide.
before against the run of play Redbridge had the chance to take the lead when awarded what seemed to Dereham a harsh penalty and Mark Nougher duly stepped up to equalise.
The goal brought confidence back to the home side who now started to press and create some chances of their own although Dereham nearly snatched a winner on the half time whistle as Lewis Sturman shot just over.
Redbridge started the 2nd half in the best possible way as they took the lead when Vinny Murphy saw Andrew Wilton off his line and chipped the ball over him into the empty net.
Joe Gent was then denied by a goal line clearance before Epsirito Santos shot went just wide with Wilton left stranded.
The remainder of the half saw Dereham chase the game whilst Redbridge were happy to defend their lead which they looked likely to do before conceding an injury time penalty. Aaron Kay stepped up but Parker pulled off a superb diving save and the resulting rebound was then blasted way over the goal.
