Redbridge Moving Upwards

Adam Silver17 Jan 2015 - 19:15

Redbridge climbed up two places in the league after a 4-1 win over Chatham Town. Our goals coming from Parish, Murphy, Espirito Santo and Damali.

Both sides found themselves down at the wrong end of the table desperate for the points to help move them climb up.

Defender Aaron Tatham injured himself in the warm up and therefore took to the bench where Chinedu McKenzie replaced him.

The away side squandered a great early chance when good work by Owen Kabodi found Kieran McCann who saw his shot parried by Mark Parker , the ball fell to Matthew Parsons who only had to pass the ball into the net but his effort went high and wide.

That miss proved costly as Redbridge went straight up the other end and scored, Ryan Carolan saw his effort well saved by Lee Kidman but from the resulting corner Charlie Parish headed home.

The lead was doubled after 20 minutes, Brian was upended just outside the penalty box and Vinny Murphy stepped up to thump home the free kick in off the underside of the bar.

Before half time Chatham got themselves back in the game when a good passing move saw Owen Kabodi score. It made for a nervous end to the half for the Motormen who up to that point had looked very comfortable.

The goal gave Chatham confidence of a equaliser as they started the second period on the front foot but it was Redbridge who soon further extended their lead.

A loose ball fell to Carlos Epsirito Santo and from fully 25 yards out his effort flew past Kidman into the back of the net, it was the Portugese player's first goal for the club.

Before Chatham had even recovered Redbridge substitute Patrick Damali scored an almost identical goal to make it four. There were no further goals but the home side continued to press.

It was a deserved 3 points and Redbridge now move up two places further away from the relegation zone.
