Redbridge fell to a 3-0 home defeat against title chasing Needham Market and now look ahead to the big clash v Romford on Tuesday evening

Needham Market remain one point behind Harlow at the top of the Ryman North Division One league as they swept past Redbridge who stay one place above the drop zone.

The pitch went ahead after a 9:30 inspection but was extremely hard to either side to play any real football as the majority of the first half being a midfield battle on a tremendously difficult surface.

Michael Brothers, substitute Ryan Crisp and Luke Ingram were Needham’s goal scorers as they claimed their second 3-0 win on the spin.
The visitors opened the scoring with the first chance of the game, when the ball fell to Brothers who confidently slotted away at the near post.

The home side had several opportunities to level the scores. Gavin Cockman, Chinedu McKenzie and lastly George Winn all went close for Redbridge with the latter crashing the post just before the interval.

Needham sealed the points in two second half minutes. Firstly Crisp slotted home from the edge of the box and minutes later a Redbridge clearance deflected off Ingram to make it three and give Needham the win.

The defeat leaves Redbridge just one place above 21st place Romford ahead of the meeting between the two side on Tuesday evening. The Motormen will be hoping to end their woeful run of just one win in six as they aim to move six points above their local rivals and earn an eighth home win of the campaign.
