The only two remaining unbeaten sides in the league met at the Oakside where prior to kick-off a one minute silence was held honouring the memory in passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II .
The home side were quickly out the blocks as Tony Martin put over a dangerous cross from the right which was cleared away to safety however the first chance of the match fell to Enfield when from a corner Danny Norton got to the ball first but only succeeded in heading over.
Shortly after Redbridge were awarded a penalty after a nice passage of passing found the ball eventually at the feet of Jack Roult who waltzed his way into the area before being brought down by Jack Grosvenor leaving the referee with no alternative, up stepped Martin sending James Bransgrove the wrong way and giving his side an early lead.
Both sides then had an equal share of possession without any real attempt on target , Enfield then won a corner which was well defended as the ball was then cleared up the other end which required Tyler Corlett to put behind to then concede a corner of their own.
Moments later and the home side then doubled their advantage when a lighting break down the left from Tayo Josh Olukolo saw him skim past the full back before playing a perfect cross into the box which Martin slid in to get on the end off firing home for his and Redbridge second of the game.
With their tails up Redbridge quickly came up the field again through Olukolo but this time he chose the wrong option deciding to go alone when Solomon Ogunwomoju was better placed for the pass and surely would have had the better chance, with that the effort was gone.
Just four minutes later and Enfield got themselves back into the match , from a corner Corlett stole in at the near post to head through the gap and past George Martin in goal to reduce the arrears.
At the other end a Jack Chawner free kick found Jake Brocklebank who got down well but managed to head just wide of the upright.
Enfield had a good opportunity at the other end when good combination between Samrah Gebrai and Louie Johnson ended with the latter getting into a good position before seeing his shot take a deflection which took the sting out of it and fortunately for Martin end up comfortably in his arms.
Joe Elliott then blasted an effort wide as an entertaining first half came to a close.
The second period began as the skies opened with continuous heavy rain , Bradley Bennett saw his effort fire wide when he had more time than he realised before Corlett for Enfield shot from distance however it was always rising.
A spell followed where the away side had the lion share of possession although Redbridge had a great opportunity to score a third when Ogunwomoju rounded Bransgrove but failed to get any sort of decent connection on the shot allowing a defender to hack the ball to safety.
Although Enfield were having most of the ball they failed to create any real chances whilst Redbridge did continue to do so as another went begging when a cross found Ogunwomoju who brought down the well before firing a volley which Bransgrove was equal to.
Enfield soon had a shout for a penalty after a player went down in the area however all calls were swiftly ignored by the officials.
The game continued in the same vain with Enfield having large spells of play but resilient defending from the home side continued to keep them at bay, they made a series of substitutions to try and freshen things up with one of those in striker Dwade James flashing an effort wide, Martin then had to be alert to deny fellow substitute Kieran Bishop getting down quickly at his post to make the stop.
Redbridge had two further good chances as firstly Ogunwomoju tried to place his attempt rather than go for power before the same player found himself one on one against a defender twisting and turning before finally getting a shot in which ended the wrong side of the upright.
With Redbridge now also making their own series of substitutions three of those combined when Miles Peterkin showed good persistence to win the ball back in his own half before playing a lovely cross field ball into the path of fellow sub James Barlow who crossed first time looking for Loui Hazlewood who just failed to get on the end of it.
After 3 minutes of added time the referee did finally called a halt to proceedings which sees Enfield’s winning run end and Redbridge’s unbeaten start continue as they head into a local derby against Woodford Town on Friday evening.
