Redbridge faced White Ensign as they hosted their third home game in the previous seven days, the earlier rain looked to have subsided however made for a wet surface.
The home side attacked from the off, from a Joey May corner Ensign failed to clear the ball as it became pinball in the penalty area before the danger was eventually cleared.
The early dominance soon brought a goal, from another corner a headed was only partially cleared falling into the path of May who hammered a shot goal wards beating Charlie Martin down low at his post.
The home side now leading continued to attack their opponents as Ensign struggled to get out of their own half, James Barlow came close but was denied at the far post when his headed was blocked.
The away side eventually had their first attack when from a corner , Iyiola Adebayo flashing a shot wide.
It was a brief interlude however as back at the other end Solomon Ogunwomoju cut inside from the right , his shot seemed to be heading for the far corner before Martin dived to his right making the save.
Ensign then had an opportunity from a set piece, a free kick by ex-Motorman Charlie Portway curled round the 3 man Redbridge wall and into the welcome arms of George Martin.
Further chances then came for the home side, Ogunwomoju with grass in front of him drove forward at goal before seeing his curling effort palmed away by Martin. Tony Martin then cut inside a defender before firing a shot which appeared to be heading into the corner before a defender managed to track back and clear off the line.
Redbridge then doubled their advantage on 36 minutes , once again Ensign failed to clear allowing Joe Elliott to shoot which deflected kindly into the path of Bradley Bennett who smashed home from close range.0
Two minutes later and it was three, May played a lovely cross field path into the path of Ogunwomoju who forced out wide by a defender before shooting early beating Martin into the far corner.
The final chance of the half fell to Ensign as Portway tried a shot from range which was always heading wide.
The Motormen started the second period as they ended the first by attacking from the off.
They thought they had scored a fourth when Martin diving header found the back of the net only to be denied by an offside flag on the far side.
White Ensign then had probably their best spell of the game with two quick chances requiring saves by Martin in goal from Ben Sargent and substitute Ethan Evison.
Conditions then took a turn for the worse as the rain started to hammer down and with both sides making several changes the game lost a little of it’s intensity.
Portway headed wide from a corner before Redbridge sub Daniel Okah saw his defensive headed fall short allowing Tony Jacobs the chance to lob Martin however fortunately for the home side the ball fell the wrong side of the upright.
The majority of the play this half seemed to be coming down the right flank especially since the introduction of Redbridge substitute Reuben Campbell who put over some teasing crosses.
With the clock now running down a fourth goal did soon arrive, sub Michael Pindy ran at pace before slipping the ball into the path of Ogunwomoju who rounded Martin and knocked the ball into an empty net for his second of the game.
It should have then been five after a nice passing move saw the ball eventually fall at the feet of Tony Martin who dinked the ball over his namesake Charlie but once again a defender managed to get back and clear off the line.
Even the crossbar then came to the away side’s rescue as Pindy fired in a powerful effort which bounced back to safety.
The final whistle blew on what had proved to be a comfortable afternoon for the home side who now travel to Barking in midweek buoyed by this result as they remain 3rd in the table.
