In what was surley a must win for the Motormen, Dave Ross's side for some reason or another were not able to cope with Harlow's pace as they slumped to a dissapointing home defeat. It was a big blow for Redbridge in their battle to save themselves from relegation and leaves them really needing to win at least once in the next week to get some momentum on their side for a change.
In truth it was quite a scrappy first half with the ball barley going into the penalty box for either team bar the odd attack. Redbridge's best chance of a move looked to be coming from balls into the feet of young Jack West. Around the twenty minute mark, a ball from Julian Ashby found West well and he flicked onto Charlie Georgiou who shot wide.
Harlow in truth were keeping the ball better and five minutes from half time went ahead. The visitors earned a corner when Emmanuel Osei shot on goal was blocked by Simon Peddie. From the resulting corner, Redbridge failed to clear and when the ball came back into the box Shaun Gliddon who slotted the ball pat James Marrable in goal to send Harlow into a half time lead.
The second half didn't get much better for Redbridge, as almost immediately Harlow doubled their lead. Nothing looked on for Reece Dobson when he picked up a loose ball around 35 yards out of goal. To the suprise of everyone inside the ground, the midfielder let fly from that distance and the ball flew into the top corner. It was so quick that Marrable in goal could only look on. It was a huge blow for the Motormen and made their task all the more difficult.
Redbridge did try and get back in the same but although they had alot of the ball Harlow's defence held firm. Only twice did they trouble James Hassel in goal for Harlow. West forced a good save from the goalie with a header after a Andy Edmunds cross whilst Matty Gillingham shot over inside a crowded penalty area through good play from Georgiou.
With the game deep into injury time, the visitors wrapped the game up when ex-Redbridge striker Julian Edwards ran through on goal and slotted past Marrable to seal a bad night for Redbridge. More will be needed from the side if they are to pick up a good result at Maldon Town at the weekend.
Redbridge: Marrable, Wilson, Peddie, Matson, Dickinson, Diaczuk, Ashby (Gillingham), Georgiou, West (Batchelor), Edmunds (Petrie)
