Redbridge scored two late goals however it proved not enough as Walthamstow took the 3 points in a 3-2 win.

Armistice day saw a local derby at the Oakside as Redbridge hosted Walthamstow who were in good form having suffered just the 1 league defeat thus far.

Into the starting line up for Redbridge came Jaiden Babalola and Warren Kayembe whilst striker Ayo Olukoya was back on the bench.

From the kick off Redbridge went on the attack, the ball was swept out to the left finding Jerold Cobblah who cut inside before his shot was deflected out wide.

From the resulting corner the ball was played back into the box finding the head of Kayembe who saw his flicked header come back off the crossbar rebounding back to Joe Elliott who went for a curling effort which was always rising.

It was a good start for Redbridge but at the other end with their first chance Walthamstow went and opened the scoring. Two shots were initially blocked but with the ball not being fully cleared George Ironton connected placing the ball past a stranded Connor Wheatley.

Redbridge showed good reacting to going behind as firstly Koby Yeboah tried his luck from distance before Elliott tested goalkeeper Matt Nolan with a fiercely driven free-kick.

Solomon Ogunwomoju was almost then in on goal before Yeboah again shot over as the chances continued to rack up.

Walthamstow then attacked and there were loud shots for a penalty from their supporters behind the goal however it fell on deaf ears as the referee waived away any appeals.

It was shortly however 2-0 , good work down the left by Bilal Sayoud saw his cross to the far post headed down by Damaray Anyadike into the path of Adalberto Pinto who blasted home through a crowded penalty box.

Redbridge then had a good opportunity to pull a goal back from a corner, Nolan came to collect but only succeeded in dropping the ball at the feet of Bradley Bennett but his effort from close range was blocked and the ball ended up in the arms of Nolan.

A half time change for Redbridge as youngster Rio Mudhar-Hedley was brought on and the first chance of the second period came to the home side as Ogunwomoju was allowed to run towards goal and his shot was well saved resulting in a corner.

Walthamstow then had a spell of pressure as Ollie Sotoyinbo crossed into the box looking for Jordon Watson who connected but could only head wide.

From the resulting corner they made it 3-0 , a fluffed clearance fell straight at the feet of Sotoyinbo who made no mistake from close range.

Well on top now 3 almost became 4 as the impressive Sayoud saw his cross cleared from just under the bar.

Anyadike was then put through however Wheatley was quickly out of his goal to deny him.

A rare chance in the second half for Redbridge as Ogunwomoju's shot stung the gloves of Nolan but he was able to hold onto the ball.

Stow substitute Callum Ibe then had a powerful drive which tested Wheatley who was forced into a good save tipping the ball behind.

Into the final 10 minutes and Redbridge to their credit continued to keep attacking, Kayembe saw his cross cum shot fly wide before they finally pulled a goal back with two minutes remaining when Shelvey-Negus got a touch inside the six yard box from a Lewis Clark knock down as he lifted the ball over Nolan.

Walthamstow were suddenly having to defend in numbers as Kayembe cut inside from wide before dragging a shot wide of the upright.

From the next attack it was then 3-2 as Clark flashed a volley home from a cross to suddenly reduce the arrears making it a far more nervy ending for Walthamstow than it needed to be where minutes earlier they seemed to be well in control at 3 up.

Suddenly it was panic defending as Redbridge threw everyone forward looking for an equaliser , even keeper Wheatley came up and connected with a corner but headed wide.

With that there was no further time remaining and full time was called meaning it was a second home league defeat in a week for Redbridge after going the previous 13 months unbeaten.
