In a tight encounter an early Oscar Shelvey-Negus(pic) goal was the difference as we defeated Gorleston 1-0.

The Motormen were hosting their third game of the week as they faced Gorleston in the Oakside sunshine after midweek victories over Basildon United and Grays Athletic had moved them up the table.

With both Jack Chawner and Bradley Bennett unavailable in came Samson Uwandu and youngster Jimi Feeley for his first start.

There was an early chance for Uwandu who swung wildly at the ball only succeeding in finding the field behind the goal.

From the 1st corner of the game the home side went ahead , the ball was swung in finding Oscar Shelvey Negus who run in and flicked the ball goal wards with a cheeky flick which caught keeper Jake Jessup off-guard.

Gorleston then came forward as Redbridge failed to clear their lines allowing Henry Pollock the chance to shoot but he lifted high over the bar.

Kieran Higgs then cut inside a defender before getting in a shot which Connor Wheatley was able to get his body behind and make the save.

Uwandu then put over a good cross which was cut out for a corner, the ball came in eventually falling at the feet of Soumen Nandi who saw his powerful drive well blocked.

That was to be the last chance of a half which lacked any real quality from either side.

Into the second half and a powerful run from Higgs saw him brought down winning his side a free- kick.

At the other end a Joseph Elliott free kick beat the wall and bobbled up making it difficult for Jessup who did well to push behind for a corner.

Gorleston were seeing plenty of the ball but were unable to break down a stubborn home defence which had kept seven clean sheets from their past eight matches played.

Redbridge keeper Wheatley had to be alert to turn over a deflected effort from Frary who then found himself unmarked from the resulting corner but was only able to head wide.

Ronnie Winn then saw a shot from distance palmed behind before substitute Louie Johnson broke free but rather than look for a team mate he decided to try and go alone which was the wrong decision and the chance soon went.

That proved to be the final action as Redbridge picked up the narrow victory and another 3 points which takes them up into 13th place.
