Gorleston stretched their unbeaten run to five games on a cold night that probably won't live long in the memory, as the Greens made it to the halfway point of their league season.
The Greens made three changes to the side that drew with Stowmarket in their previous game with Kyle Ingram, Luke Johnson and Craig Parker all dropping to the bench. In came Dion Frary, Connor Deeks and Jacek Zielonka.
Redbridge hadn't played since the week before Christmas when they beat Witham. They made two changes from that game.
With a strong wind making conditions tricky both sides found it difficult to create chances with the first real effort at goal coming in the 15th minute when Soumen Nandi sliced wide of Jake Jessup's goal.
The only shot on target in the entire game came three minutes before the break and was the deciding factor in the match.
Lewis Johnson linked up well with Alby Matthews, with the latter sending Johnson into the box. He hit his shot early, giving the keeper no chance, to score his first goal for the Greens.
Two minutes later a superb volley from Zielonka from the corner of the box fizzed a yard over the crossbar.
Early in the second half Joe Jefford had a free header from a corner but couldn't keep it down. Just before the hour mark Oscar Shelvey-Negus looked sure to score with a free header in front of the Gorleston net but somehow he knocked the ball in the wrong direction.
Ayo Odukoya then threw himself at a low cross into the Greens box but couldn't connect.
Gorleston began to site deep as the half wore on with Redbridge's biggest threat coming from long throws into the box which the Greens were defending well.
Seven minutes of stoppage time were signalled but neither side unduly troubled the opposition keeper in the additional time and it was the Greens who collected a valuable three points to move up to 11th.
