Redbridge came from behind to beat Ipswich Wanderers 5-2, Mekael Williams(pic) getting amongst the goals.

Redbridge entertained bottom side Ipswich Wanderers who had Michael Brothers in the dugout for the first time.

The Motormen welcomed back Henry Day for his first start of this campaign, the defender had been at Essex Senior League Frenford returning to fitness.

Straight from the off the home side attacked with Malachi Napa seeing a shot go wide.

It never took long for Redbridge to go ahead, a lovely cross from Abs Conten-Thompson found skipper Joseph Elliott who directed his header into the far corner.

A strong start by the home side who were passing the ball around with confidence.

They were somewhat guilty of over playing it out from the back on one too many occasions almost getting caught out but fortunately for them Ipswich failed to take advantage of the opportunity.

Redbridge however were made to pay the price when a short pass was intercepted allowing Rhys Henry the easiest of goals as he passed the ball into an empty net.

The match then turned on its head as the visitors went ahead.

Samuel Nwabuko delayed his goal kick and in doing succeeded in taking out an Ipswich player bringing him down in the box.

The referee showed no hesitation in awarding a penalty which was slotted home by Teon Leggett to give the away side an unexpected lead.

Redbridge had a couple.of opportunities but it was the visitors who led at the interval.

A strong second half was needed from the home side and they got the required response drawing level on 54 minutes when Tendai Quamina fired home from close range through a crowded box after a good passing move.

Redbridge were now controlling possession and it was no real surprise to see them go back infront although it arrived through the unlikeliest of players.

A lovely strike from defender Mekael Williams driving a low shot past the dive of Warren Burwood to register his first goal for the club.

From then on it was one way traffic, Charlie Stimson coming closest only to be denied by a post.

Substitute Solomon Ogunwomoju then tricked his way into the box before being upended presenting his side the chance to further extend their lead from the spot which was despatched by Napa.

Ipswich then had a good chance only to be denied by Nwabuko who made up for his earlier mishaps by turning the ball onto the crossbar and away to safety.

From the resulting counterattack a lovely ball from Ogunwomoju set Stimson free and as he tried to round keeper Burwood he was brought down , another penalty was awarded.

Stimson brushed himself off to take the kick, although his shot was saved he was on hand to fire in the rebound.

Full time was then blown, Motormen taking the 3 points and moving into11th place.
