A Good DAY for Redbridge

A Good DAY for Redbridge

Adam Silver9 Mar - 16:41

Henry Day(pic) opened the scoring as Redridge overcame Mildenhall Town 3-0, our other goals coming from Solomon Ogunwomoju and Mekael Williams

In the sunshine at the Techsoc.com stadium Redbridge hosted Mildenhall Town.

It was the away side who started the game quickly however Redbridge did have the ball in the back of Josh Pope's net only to be denied by a raised flag on the far side.

Mildenhall then came close to scoring, Callum Anderson cross found Jarid Robson who got infront of his marker before connecting with a header which looked to be dropping into the bottom corner but for a fine save from Samuel Nwabuko who turned the ball behind for a corner.

The ball was swung in and it was case of panic stations at the back as Redbridge failed to clear the danger convincingly as they continued with their slow start to the match.

Eventually the home side did venture forward through skipper Joseph Elliott as he won his side their first corner. Jack Chawner whipped the ball in which was powerfully met by the head of Henry Day which flew past a helpless Pope to open the scoring.

The good work from Mildenhall was undone and it was now Redbridge who were getting on top, the goal given them confidence as they looked far more lively in possesion.

Chawner played a through ball into the path of Tendi Quamina and his cross cum shot was perhaps dropping in but Solomon Ogunwomoju made sure firing home from close range to double his side's advantage.

A lovely one two passing move involving Chawner saw the midfielder carrry the ball forward and with space opening up infront of him he went for the shot however Pope was down quickly to make the stop.

A rare attack from Mildenhalll saw Tommy Robinson try his luck from range but Nwabuko was equal to it pushing the ball away for a corner kick.

Great skill then by Malachi Napa saw him beat two defenders before shooting from a difficult angle which was turned in on the line by Fotsing Pitoula-Wabo but yet again the offside flag denied a goal.

Into the second period and the first attempt saw Napa fired a shot goalwards but his effort was aways rising.

The next 20mins or so passed by with very little of note, Redbridge continuted to have the majority of the ball without really testing the Mildenall goal whilst when the away side did have the ball they found it difficult to get forward.

A chance came and went for the home side as yet again Chawner won possession , he played a lovely ball up field into Pitoula-Wabo who ran at his marker before shooting just past the post.

Napa then tried a curling effort which beat Pope but dropped the wrong side of the upright before Ogunwomoju fired a shot wide .

A flurry of substitutions then followed for Redbridge , one of those in Mekael Williams managed to finally put the game to bed in the last minute as he ran onto a pass from Napa before firing across Pope into the corner of the goal.

Almost a consolation goal at the very end for Mildenhall as a clearance dropped kindly to Ryan Swift who could only shoot wide.
