Redbridge hosted relegation threatened Basildon United as Chris Taylor went up against his former club who were playing their first match under new manager Dan Spinks.
Two changes for the home side as Bradley Monks came in for goalkeeper Samuel Nwabuko whilst Doriano Tanzillo replaced the injured Tendi Quamina.
It was a slow start from both sides , the first chance falling to the home side when in a crowded penalty box Tanzillo dug out a shot which was easily gathered by Rory Myles.
Further chances came and went from ex Basildon player Karl Kayembe and then captain Joseph Elliott who flashed a shot just wide of the upright.
When Basildon did venture forward it was usually through the lively Nidal Berri out on the right flank, their first chance however came through Michael Faulkner who attempted a shot from distance which was always rising.
The closest opportunity thus far then came for Redbridge, Elliott saw his cross find Kayembe unmarked in the middle and his shot was hacked clear off the goal line.
As the first half came to an end although the majority of the play fell to the home side there was very little in seperating the two sides.
Into the second period and within just four minutes the deadlock was broke as Basildon took the lead. A ball was played over the top and Nathan Best got his body infront of Kai Thomas-Fraser before lifting his shot over the outcoming Monks.
An almost immediate reply from Redbridge as Solomon Ogunwomoju headed a Jack Chawner corner just over the bar.
The equaliser did soon arrive , a cross was not fully cleared and fell staright at the feet of Malachi Napa who took a touch before firing across a stranded goalkeeper.
It didn't take long for the turn around , Kayembe played a through ball into the path of Fotsing Pitoula-Wabo who rounded the outrushing Myles before showing good composure to place the ball into the back of the net before any defenders could get back.
Soon after an acctidental challenge saw Pitoula-Wabo clash with keeper Myles , there was a lengthy stop in play before the player was led from the field with a head injury which with no substitute keeper on the bench saw him replaced in goal by captain Ryan Mallet.
The remainder of the game was one way traffic which saw Redbridge further extend their advantage, first Napa dispossed a defender who took too long in trying to clear before he fired home.
Basildon to their credit kept going, Best running at Henry Day who stood firm and deflected the stiker's shot out for a corner.
It was shorty four as a ball over the top saw Pitoula-Wabo beat the offside trap and although his shot was saved the rebound fell kindly to substitute Abs Conten-Thompson who bundled in the rebound as he fell to the ground.
Further good chances were spurned by the home side as both Solomon Ogunwomoju and substitute Jimi Feeley went close before a late goal from Kayembe sealed the victory as he rolled the ball home from close range.
The score line proved somewhat harsh on the visitors as Redbridge made it five matches without defeat (4 wins,1 draw)
