Redbridge came out the traps quickly on Saturday and almost took the lead in the opening minute when a Michael Ogboin header was only just too high.

However Ogboin did give Redbridge the lead on 8 minutes when he stepped up to slot a penalty home after Ronnie Winn had been hauled down in the box.

The Redbridge frontline continued causing problems to the Witham defence but Jason Baker was on hand to pull off a number of fine saves including one from Lewis Francis who was played in by some indecisive Witham defending but saw his shot tipped away acrobatically by the Witham custodian.

However Ogboin scored his second after 18 minutes when he pounced on a loose ball in the box and steered it past Baker.

Soon after Baker did pull of a superb save to foil Ogboin from his hat-trick after 35 minutes when a goal ward bound header was tipped over the crossbar.

The closing stages of the first half saw Witham go close as Lewis Godbold saw a header just float over the bar while an Eamon Payne shot crashed against the woodwork.

Redbridge started brightly in the second half but were unable to create many clear-cut chances. Soon after however they were then awarded a second penalty but Ogboin this time saw his effort saved by Baker.

The penalty save served to buoy Witham up and they then started to get into the Redbridge box with Tom Cocklin making a nuisance of himself while Osita Isichei saw two headers just miss the target.

Witham finally pulled one back on 84 minutes when John Watson slotted past Jack Avery and Redbridge had to hold out for the final stages of the game as Witham pushed hard for a late ditch equaliser.
