Dereham Five Star Showing

Adam Silver5 Sep 2015 - 23:16

Redbridge were well beaten going down 5-0 at home to Dereham Town

Both sides went into this match hopeful for the 3 points after a series of bad results.

The Motormen started brightest and Billy Drake was just inches away from making contact to Joe Gent's cross. Lewis Butcher then had Dereham's first opportunity but his shot went just wide of Avery's post. Minutes later however they took the lead when Rhys Logan volleyed home from the edge of the box.

It should have been two soon after when a misjudged clearance from Jack Avery fell at the feet of Ryan Crisp but he made amends by getting down well to pull of the save.

Redbridge almost had a huge slice of luck when a mix up in the Dereham defence saw Jane Anema miscued clearance almost drop into his own net but keeper Will Viner got back just in time to push the ball away.

Dereham then missed a sitter when AJ Adelekan lost posession to Logan who laid the ball across the area finding the unmarked Crisp who from yards out somehow miskicked allowing a Redbridge defender to come back and clear off the line.

Dereham had a series of good chances early in the second half both through Logan but Avery on both occasions made good stops to deny the goalscorer. Sam Borrer was next on hand to see his effort well saved after a good cross from Crisp.

Redbridge then had their best chance when another mix up in the Dereham back line let in Joe Gent who from a wide position was unable to find the empty net.

The home side made all their substitutions as they looked for a way back into the match but conceded again when Crisp curled home a left footed effort into the bottom corner of the goal.

Before Redbridge knew it they then went further behind as poor defending allowed Sam Borrer to drift into the box unmarked where he had the simple task of tapping the ball past a stranded Avery.

Unfortunately for the home side that was not to be the last of the goals as first Luke Butcher lobbed home before sub Lewis Wallace put the final nail in the coffin when he scored after man of the match Avery had denied a goal on at least three occasions.

Redbridge will try and halt their recent bad run of defeats but it will be no mean feat as they travel to 2nd placed AFC Hornchurch on Tuesday evening.
