The Motormen made their first ever visit to the Phoenix Sports Ground as they tried to put an end to their recent poor league form which had seen them lose their previous 12 fixtures.
After the recent departure of top scorer Michael Ogbion triker David Stevens was brought into the side for his debut along with wide midfielder Harry Prince.
The first chance fell to the home side when Adem Ramadan crossed for Alistair Gordon who threw himself at the ball only to see his diving header go narrowly wide.
Redbridge then went back up the other end and a good floating cross from Jamie Alexandrou found the head of Stevens but he was unable to test Steve Phillips in goal.
Jay Knight was looking lively for Redbridge and it was he who opened the scoring when he slipped past two defenders before letting fly from 20 yards out and although Phillips got a touch he could not keep the ball out.
From the resulting kick off and the home dug out were angered when denied what looked a clear penalty after Jack Avery had appeared to bring down Ricky Freeman. They were further incensed when the player was then booked for what the referee had believed to be a dive.
The home side was looking for the equaliser and after they had a chance cleared off the line finally got back in the match when Christie Pattison took control of long ball up field from Richie Hamill and fired home what was his first senior goal for the club.
Within 10 minutes and they were ahead when poor marking allowed Gordon to head home directly from a corner giving the home side a lead at the half time break.
The home side continued to press and Harrison Carnegie had two good opportunities before Gordon saw his lobbed effort well tipped away. It was no surprise when the lead was further increased when from a free kick Freeman fired home to follow his hat trick he scored against Redbridge in the reverse fixture.
Knight had a great chance to pull a goal back but went for the near post when he had the rest of the goal gaping. It was a costly miss as Phoenix went up the other end and scored their fourth when Carnegie was put through and sowed great composure and skill in just lifting the ball over the out coming keeper.
It was Knight again who had the final chance of the evening when he danced through the home defence but his shot lacked any real effort.
Redbridge now have a massive game on Saturday as they take on fellow strugglers Soham Town Rangers as they desperately go in search of 3 points.
