Redbridge came into the match in confident mood after picking up their first points since August in Saturday when they beat Soham Town Rangers .
The first chance however fell to the away side when Nnamdi Nwachkai turned well inside the area but dragged his shot wide.
Maldon & Tiptree were dominating early possession and David Segura-Garcia was then put clear but as he tried to find the bottom corner he was thwarted by a good stop from Mark Parker.
The first attempt for the home side came through Jay Knight who picked up a loose ball but could not keep his effort on target.
Shortly after the home side took the lead somewhat against the run of play when Knight's back heel released Harry Prince who floated a lovely ball to the far post where Joe Gent was on hand to apply the finish.
Just before the half time whistle was about to be blown a mistake from Parker in goal allowed Maldon back into the match.
As the ball was passed back what should have been a routine clearance up field resulted in a miskick which saw the ball fall straight into the path of Femi Akinwande who had the simple task of just slotting home into an empty net.
It was a real kick in the teeth for the home side who were starting to look good for their lead.
The home side started the 2nd period well and Drake had a good chance when put through from Rigers Kabashi but he failed to find the target.
The away side however took the lead when after Parker had saved well from Nwachaky the resulting corner found Darren Mills who tapped home.
It was a real test now for the Motormen and where as in recent weeks they may have folded they rolled up their sleeves sides and looked for a way back into the match.
They had a great chance when Knight crossed for Kabashi but he steered his effort wide when he really should have done better.
They were however given a route back into the match when a good run by the impressive Knight saw him slip past one man before being brought down by the next challenge and the referee had no hesitation in awarding the spot kick. Knight picked himself up to slot the ball past Shaun Philips and level the score.
Three minutes later and it was once more Knight who popped up in the box to head home in which was his 8th goal of the season.
Both sides had further chances in which the goalkeepers saved well but through 5 added minutes of injury time the home side managed to hold on for their first back to back wins of the season as they claim out of the bottom three.
