Points Dropped at Potters Bar

Points Dropped at Potters Bar

Adam Silver28 Oct 2010 - 11:16

Redbridge were only four minutes away from their 2nd victory of the week before two late late goals gave the home side a undeserved 2-2 draw.

A draw on Wednesday night certainly felt like defeat as Redbridge dropped two points after Potters Bar scored 2 late late goals to share the points.

Redbridge went into this match full of confidence after picking up their first league win of the season in their previous match beating Brentwood Town 4-0.

Potters Bar were also in good form unbeaten in their previous four matches but recent home form against Redbridge was not good having lost on their last 3 occasions.

The Motormen line up was changed from Saturday with Elliott Justham taking place in goal and Ben Britnell making his first start coming in for the suspended captain Julian Ashby.

The home side started much the quicker but the Redbridge defence were proving difficult to break down and went ahead after 18 minutes when striker Ellis Skidmore took advantage of a defensive error to slot home his 3rd goal in 2 games.

The home side continued to have most of the posession but found themselves having to shoot from far out only occasionally troubling Justham in goal.

Into the 2nd half and Redbridge were much the better side having the majority of play and had good chances to increase the lead through Corey Ellis and Ellis Skidmore. The pressure finally told in the 77th minute when Matthew Gillingham raced onto a through ball holding off his defender before slotting home to give the away side a certain victory and 3 much needed points.

On 86 minutes Potters Bar substitute Jose Espinosa hit a fine shot to half the defecit and make it a nervy finish for the Motormen. With 4 minutes of injury time being added it was backs to the wall for Redbridge and even home keeper Dan Odamo was playing as an extra striker leaving an unguarded goal as they risked everything in search of an equalising goal. As in recent matches Redbridge could not hold on to the victory and in the 94th minute Tom Pett found some space in the penalty box and tucked home an undeserved point.
