Redbridge started brighter and took the lead on 26 minutes when Craig Arnott tapped home Lee Townrow's cross from the right. It was the youngster's third goal for the club since joining on loan from Colchester United.
Sadly for Redbridge, that goal seemed to wake the visitors up and just three minutes later Heybridge equalised when Reece Morgan fired home past Elliott Justham after good work from Luke Callender down the wing. It was a bitter blow for Jody Brown's men and one that certainly cancelled out Redbridge's good start.
After that Heybridge pushed forward and almost grabbed the lead on the stroke of half time when Justham somehow made a great double save. First the keeper saved Chris Bryan's powerful shot across goal and then with the goal gaping somehow parried away Morgan's shot on the rebound. A great double save by the keeper.
Redbridge came out after half time looking positive, but just couldn't get the break that they needed to go back in front. First Lee Townrow saw a speculative volley saved by Jason Willis at the back post before Arnott saw a goal ruled out for handball much to the youngster's frustration.
Heybridge though were working hard and got the break that they needed to go in front with 17 minutes remaining. A long throw in from Billy Hawes was headed into the path of Morgan whose right-footed shot from the edge deflected in past Justham much to the frustration of the Motormen's defence.
That goal seemed to take the game away from the hosts and Heybridge took full advantage, scoring twice late on to seal the win. First Chris Bryan ran onto a long ball to slot past Justham before Michael Marsh scrambled a shot in at the far post.
Hyun-Jin Lee could have scored a consolation goal for Redbridge but the Korean's powerful shot from inside the area hit the bar and sailed away to safety. It just was one of those days for Redbridge as they slumped to their third league defeat in a row.
