The Motormen welcomed Newmarket Town on Bank Holiday Monday as they continued their push for a play-off place, producing a dramatic contest that ended in a late draw.
Redbridge started brightly and applied early pressure, winning a series of corners in the opening stages. Charles Brown Bampoe went close from one, heading just wide, while another dangerous delivery caused chaos in the Newmarket box, with Samuel Carter seeing an effort cleared off the line before the follow-up was blocked.
The hosts continued to threaten, with Pedro Carvalho lively on the flank and earning further set pieces. Despite the pressure, clear chances were limited—Nathaniel Ebanks-Blake volleyed into the grateful arms of goalkeeper Jake Anderson, while substitute Elliott Sartorius saw a shot blocked after hesitating in the box.
Redbridge remained on top, with Louie Remi firing wide and another effort from distance comfortably gathered. However, just as it looked like the sides would go in level, Newmarket struck against the run of play. Their skipper Ebanks-Blake produced a smart finish to beat Anderson and give the visitors a surprise lead at half-time.
The Motormen responded immediately after the break. A cross into the box found Carvalho, who fired home emphatically past Young to level the scores.
Redbridge pushed forward with renewed intensity. Brown Bampoe battled well to create space for a shot that deflected wide, while a free-kick from Jack Chawner was headed off target by Kai Thomas Fraser. Remi came agonisingly close to giving the hosts the lead when his strike beat the keeper but crashed against the post, with Karl Kayembe unable to convert the rebound.
The pressure mounted as Redbridge dominated possession. Carvalho continued to impress, delivering a dangerous cross that saw strong penalty appeals waved away after Brown Bampoe appeared to be barged in the box. Further chances came and went, including a header from Kayembe that drifted just wide.
Despite being under sustained pressure, Newmarket regained the lead , a long ball over the top found a forward who appeared offside, but with no flag raised, he calmly finished past Anderson to put the visitors 2–1 ahead.
Redbridge refused to give in. Carter headed narrowly wide from a Carvalho cross, and another Chawner free-kick almost caught the goalkeeper out. With time running out, the hosts finally found their reward.
A late surge ended with a dramatic equaliser from Thomas-Fraser deep into stoppage time, ensuring the Motormen salvaged a point from a game they largely controlled however it could prove a very costly two points dropped.
