Redbridge were on the attack from the start and in the first five minutes had two great chances. The first foul of the game came on our left side, Michael Toner took the kick which found Ryan Wade who tucked it home on 15 minutes.

Another chance came 4 minutes later when the ball was kicked into the box but the goal keeper made a brilliant save and tipped over for a corner. This was taken by Wade which found Michael Toner to make it 2-0 on 20 minutes.

Potters Bar came back with a couple of attacks but both chances went wide. Rob Magwood of Potters Bar was given a yellow card when he fouled Lewis Dark. A few minutes later, the same player was given a second yellow for a further foul, which most people thought wrong. That meant that Potters Bar were down to ten men just before half time with us two goals up.

The second half started with Craig Wood coming on for Joe Gardner, who picked up a yellow card in the first half As expected after half time Potters Bar came out fighting and we found ourselves defending for some little time.

Redbridge kept them out but still needed that third goal to settle ourselves. Unfortunately the third goal fell to Potters Bar when a silly mistake let in their forward James Gersfield to score on 60 minutes.

That woke us up and when when Nathan Gordon picked up a pass just inside their half, went like the clappers, as the goal keeper advance to the edge of his six yard area, the marksmen cleverly picked his spot to make it 3-1 on 67 minutes for his sixth goal of the season, putting the game to bed.

On 74 minutes Gordon was substituted after working his socks off with new signing Joe Ellul replacing him., within a minute he had made is mark and showed us what a good player he is.

On 90 minutes Dark scored to make it 4-1 before creating Redbridge’s fifth after collecting the 30 yards out and running past two defenders on the right before squaring the ball for Ellul to made it a great afternoon with a 5-1 win on 92 minutes.

It is good to announce that since we lost a great goal keeper in the last couple of weeks that in Joe Wright we appear to have found a good replacement and the keeper had a good game with a man-of-the-match display which gave Redbridge the security and confidence that helps at the back.
