The Motormen hosted title chasing Stansted who needed the win to stay in contention at the top whilst also having one eye on events over at Ilford who were playing leaders Hullbridge Sports.
A very early opportunity for the home side when ex Stansted player Paul Preston lifted a shot just over the bar.
Stansted were looking to attack down the flanks especially on the left through the pace of Callum Ibe and the away side went in front after just 12 minutes when James Peagram played in Jack Mitchell who lobbed Harvey Wright in goal and saw the ball nestle into the net.
Stansted again went close when Billy Coyne whipped over a free kick finding the head of Peagram but he could only nod wide before Harvey had another effort which flew wide.
At the other end Daniel McCullock shot from distance lacked any power and was easily gathered by Charlie Turner in goal before Peagram found himself in on goal but his strike was well parried out by Wright before the rebound was pushed wide.
A rare fumble by Turner in goal saw the ball fall at the feet of Preston but he skewed his shot wide of the upright.
Redbridge were getting lots of joy on the wings mainly through Preston but were not creating enough clear chances whilst Stansted continued to look a threat when they came forward.
Ibe broke free and chipped a ball into the middle looking for Peagram but his headed dropped the wrong side of the post.
Wright in the home goal was certainly the busier of the two goalkeepers and he was called upon to make a good save as he clawed away Peagram’s header which looked to be heading into the corner but he was left helpless as Jack West headed home an Ibe cross to double his side’s advantage.
The second half started with a slower intensity but Stansted were still looking the more dangerous and Redbridge’s job became even more difficult when Daniel Smith was sent from the field after picking up a second yellow card as he halted the run of Ibe.
Jordan Palmer headed a chance over before Peagram saw his shot cleared by the feet of Wright before Redbridge had their best chance of the game when Jon Watson sweetly hit a volley which crashed back against the bar falling at the feet of substitute Calvin Poku who lifted the rebound over.
Dan Gilchrist saw his shot drift wide before Paul Clayton was twice denied by Wright but he was not to be denied and headed home the 3rd goal on 83 minutes.
The ten men of Redbridge were starting to tire with Stansted looking to add a fourth which almost came through a Billy Coyne free kick which was well tipped to safety by Wright but from the resulting corner the ball was headed down into the path of West who grabbed his second of the afternoon and seal an emphatic victory for the airport men.
