Redbridge travelled to Hoddesdon Town as the two sides faced one another for the first ever time with the Motormen boosted by their weekend victory at Hullbridge Sports.
Micky Wetherall was slowly starting to get his new squad assembled with 9 of the starting 11 being just some of his new signings.
Redbridge started the more lively and were almost in when Connor Okus played in Petrit Elbi but he was flagged offside.
They did however take an early lead after 8 minutes when Elbi held the ball up before finding Kai Heather who cut inside before unleashing a powerful drive which sailed past the dive of Aaron Bull.
Redbridge were looking to press very quickly and in doing so were giving their opponents no time on the ball.
One goal soon became two when Elbi once again slipped a pass into the path of Dan Gilchrist who shot first time leaving Bull stranded.
Hoddesdon tried to come forward but were mainly being restricted to long range efforts which failed to test Rhys Hughes in the Redbridge goal.
At the other end Gilchrist and Elbi continued to ask questions of the Hoddesdon defence whist Heather saw an effort fly wide .
Kane Lowe was almost in for the home side when he got into the box but saw his shot well blocked by Joe Maskell.
Redbridge almost ended the half with a third after a short corner saw Liam Burgess whip in a ball which Heather could only direct onto a post.
Hoddesdon as expected started the second period with more intensity as they went in search of a goal and it never took long in coming.
Lowe continued to be his side's most dangerous player and it was his ball across the box which found Sam Cross lurking at the far post who tapped home.
Gilchrist then tried a shot from distance which Bull held onto before Cross almost grabbed an equaliser when he beat Hughes to the ball but failed to direct his shot on target.
Gilchrist then stole the ball from a defender before running in on goal but his shot was Bull was on hand to save.
Marcus Carter then came forward and played a ball into the path of Okus who first time volleyed his effort just wide
With it appearing that Redbridge would hold on for the victory Hoddesdon got their equaliser when a ball was played into a crowded penalty box and although Hughes did well with the initial save there was little he could do with the rebound which was headed back over him into the goal.
Redbridge had a late chance to win it when from a corner Maskell saw his powerful header cleared off the line.
Full time was called and although it was a welcome point for the Motormen they would be disappointed to let the match slip away from a winning position.
