A warm summer evening saw the Motormen travel to Mile End Stadium to take on Tower Hamlets, bad traffic resulted in a 15 minute delay to proceedings.
Redbridge had an early opportunity when Taylor Tombides raced past Jack Gannon in goal but his cut back into the box was cleared away for a corner which was swung in and headed goal wards but cleared off the line by a defender.
Ben Brookes had the first chance for the home side as he carried the ball forward but shot well wide of goal.
Balde Suaibo was looking lively for the hosts and he brought the ball down before turning inside a defender and getting his shot in which required saving by the feet of George Martin in the Redbridge goal.
At the other end Kane Hearn on his debut was put through with a lovely pass but was in two minds whether to shoot or cross and his effort went across goal and came to nothing.
Suaibo then played a lovely ball with the outside of his foot finding Yoan Edoukou in space and his shot rattled against the outside of a post when he really should have found the target,
Chances for Redbridge as first Daniel Gilchrist then Tombides had chances which both went begging before Latimer had to do his defensive duties blocking a shot.
The opening goal finally arrived after 37minutes started at the back by Sam Dickens, his good work ended with a ball through to Tombides who raced down on goal and smashed his effort past Gannon into the back of the net.
Tower Hamlets almost made an immediate reply as Martin had to be alert racing out of his goal to clear the danger just beating a player to the ball. He went down injured resulting in several minutes of added time in which the away side effectively killed off the match
First they were awarded a penalty after good work down the right flank by Timi Abiola before he was up ended in the box, Gilchrist firing home a low shot from the spot to double the lead.
Within a minute and two became three as Hearn was on the end of a cross and then before half time they even managed to grab a fourth as James Barlow was on the end of a nice passing move sweeping the ball home.
It was a super end to the half for Redbridge and you had to feel slightly unfortunate for the home side who didn’t deserve to go in at the break four goals down.
As expected the home side came out quickly for the second period in the search of an early goal and had a good chance to get it when Edoukou ran onto a through ball but could only fire wide of the post.
Ezka Ndukuba then had a chance from close range which needed a good stop from Martin who was doing his utmost to keep the clean sheet.
Liam Burgess then saw his powerful drive spilled by Gannon but he was just able to pick the ball up before Gilchrist could get to the loose ball..
Redbridge however did get a 5th goal when Tombides ran onto a pass and although his initial shot came off the post he was on hand to tap home the rebound.
Tombides then became provider for Gilchrist who tried to flick the ball past Gannon but the keeper did well to deny him.
To their credit the home side continued to try and play football and they eventually got their goal through the dangerous Suaibo who stepped inside a couple of challenges before unleashing a powerful drive leaving Martin with no chance.
Full time shortly came and with most other sides in FA Vase action this weekend the win lifts Redbridge up to fourth place.
