The Motormen hosted unbeaten Saffron Walden Town at the Oakside and it was the away side who looked the more dangerous coming forward in the early stages with Gavin Cockman firing an early effort wide.
Moments later and they went ahead as Redbridge were undone by a simple ball over the top from Jack Leachman which Cockman ran onto and lobbed Florent Gislette into an empty net.
The early goal lifted the away side who then had further attempts through striker Charlie Cole who went close to doubling their advantage.
Taylor Tombides had the home side's first chance but his shot was well saved by Nicholas Eyre in goal before James Barlow almost got on the end of a cross.
Cole then headed another chance over before Gislette had to be alert to tip over a deflected cross which almost dropped into the net.
Full back Tom Skeleton then put over a teasing cross which evaded everyone as the away side continued to enjoy the lion share of possession
It was somewhat against the run of play when Redbridge equalised , good work out wide by Charleston Brown ended with his cross being deflected into the path of Tombides who fired home .
Cole had the final chance of the half bringing out a good stop from Gislette.
The second half began in the same manner with Saffron Walden Town looking livelier and it never took for them to retain the lead as Jack Isherwood headed home from a long throw.
Cole was denied from getting on the score sheet as his side had further chances and Cockman looked to have killed the game off as he grabbed his second of the game .
Cockman then had a chance to grab his hattrick but could only shoot wide before Tombides popped up for his 2nd of the game as he got on the end of a Tom Harvey cross heading home to give his side hopes of a comeback.
It almost came when he beat Eyre to the ball and could only look as the ball looked to drop into the goal only for a defender to head clear off the line.
That proved to to be the final chance of the game and although Redbridge put up a good fight ultimately it was not enough in the end and Saffron Walden Town took the 3 points and go top of the ESL.
