On a cold Tuesday at the Oakside Redbridge entertained bottom side Sawbridgeworth Town in a rearranged fixture.
The Motormen were looking to bounce back from their weekend defeat at Hashtag United whilst Sawbridgeworth were looking to get just their second league victory of the season.
The away side started strongly, and their early play certainly never had the look of a side in such poor form and they had a couple of early opportunities through Moyo Jordon-Ajibade.
It was therefore not a real surprise to see them take the lead , Louis Mackman took a quick free kick which proved too hot to handle for Redbridge keeper Florent Gislette and he spilled the ball straight into the path of Jordon-Ajibade who made no mistake from close range.
It was an early warning side if one was needed that Redbridge were going to have to work hard to get something from the match.
Hassan Nalbant had the first chance for the home side but he got his angels wrong with the header which bounced down into the ground and was easily gathered by Lewis Martin in goal.
Redbridge soon however were back on level terms when a good cross from the right-hand side by Andy Edmund's found the head of Joe Maskell who towered above everyone in the box and nodded home.
Sawbridgeworth came forward again after sloppy play saw the ball given away by Redbridge as the ball fell at the feet of Harry Bushell who tried a curling effort which just went over the bar.
On 30 minutes Redbridge went in front as Charles Opoku released Luke Foster who found himself through on goal and although he thought Martin would come to collect the ball, he managed to poke the ball past him before having the easy task of tapping into an empty net for a goal on his debut.
Sawbridgeworth heads immediately dropped and 2-1 shortly became 3-1 when Nalbant found space and squeezed his shot under the body of Martin and over the line just before a defender was able to clear.
It was now all one-way traffic and the next goal soon arrived , Nalbant made a strong run down the left flank before pulling the ball back into the path of Tom Harvey who fired into the back of the net.
Half time could not arrive soon enough for the away side who looked like the game had already been lost.
It must have been some wise words from the management team during the break as Sawbridgeworth started the 2nd period as they had the 1st and within minutes managed to pull a goal back.
Mackman ran towards goal before unleashing a powerful shot which beat Gislette at his near post to give his side a glimmer of hope.
Redbridge were starting to become sloppy in possession which was capitalized on by Sawbridgeworth as Mackman again scored this time after being found in space by substitute Kacper Borowicz.
A comfortable 3 goal lead was now looking far less comfortable as Sawbridgeworth looked the most likely to score next but fortunately for the home side it was them who managed to get the goal.
A ball over the top from Harvey found Kurt Smith and he took a touch before firing low into the corner of the net to just calm the nerves of the home bench and support alike.
Sawbridgeworth then had a chance through substitute Louie Webster which went just wide before Redbridge looked to put the game to bed in grabbing a 6th as Nalbant saw his cross deflect into the path of Harvey who drilled his shot past Martin.
They were not done there however as in added time substitute Sam Baffour drove forward down the right wing before firing a shot into the far corner of the net to wrap things up for the Motormen who recorded their biggest victory of the season.
