In fact the visitors almost made an outstanding start when Sam Taylor crossed from the left and found the head of Morris Adu. His effort appeared to be heading for the top corner of the net but he was denied by a wonderful save from Ware keeper Rhys Madden who got up and tipped the ball over the bar.
At the other end Elliot King managed to get an effort off from the edge of the box which was comfortably fielded by Michael Bowditch in the Redbridge goal before at the other end Paul Shave had a free header which he was only able to direct into the arms of Madden.
The opening goal came midway through the half when the ball was spread out wide to Tony Martin who managed to find King in the box. The young forward had a touch and buried the ball past Bowditch.
Twelve minutes later the tie was level when Shave stood over a long range free kick that he managed to dip and bend over the wall and into the top corner of the net leaving Madden with no chance.
Spencer Sachies had a dipping effort go narrowly over the bar before King almost restored the home sides lead when Michael Akande’s clearance found him in behind the Motormen’s back line. Bowditch forced him wide and the angle was too acute for him to tuck the ball home.
Ware should have had the lead on the stoke of half time when a cross from the left was flicked on by Dave Hunt for Louis Rose who was no more than six yards out with only Bowditch to beat. His first time effort, however, sailed high over the bar for what ultimately was a dreadful miss.
It was good interplay between Hunt and King on the edge of the Redbridge box that created the first chance of the second half with the former being able to take the ball into the box and under pressure poke the ball past the keeper, he was to be denied his goal, however, by the defender covering behind his keeper with him clearing the ball off the line.
The golden chance to win the game occurred at the other end of the field with Taylor bursting into the box only to be unceremoniously brought down by Akande, with the award of a penalty inevitable. After a long pause to allow Taylor treatment Shave, score of the wonder free kick in the first half, stepped up to scuff his penalty well wide of the target.
The last fifteen minutes saw Ware attack the Redbridge goal with renewed vigour and when Robbie Green’s shot was charged down by a defender the ball fell for Martin who shot on the turn narrowly wide.
Debutant Spencer Knight had a shot from distance go narrowly wide of the goal before a good Ware move ended with Aime Blessing crossing for Martin whose powerful effort was very close to restoring the lead.
Martin shot just wide after stealing the ball from a defender before a quick Redbridge break came to an end following a wonderful Dave Bastian challenge.
In added time Bowditch earned his team a point when he stood up well to Martin to save when the forward had been played in.
