Despite suffering their first League defeat in nine games on Saturday to Heybridge Swifts, the Greens remained unchanged for the fourth consecutive match.
Soham started the game well and enjoyed the majority of the first halves play. After having an early Mason goal ruled out for offside and a goal bound Baucutt header cleared, the hosts opened the scoring in the eleventh minute. Harradine delivered a left sided free kick into the area to Gent whose low show was parried by Bowditch into the path of the incoming Luke Stanley to convert from close range.
As the half continued, the Greens continued to attack with McCabe, Stanley and Mason all having chances. Midway through the half, following good build up play in and around the area, the same trio all found themselves in good positions, but on each occasion they were denied by either the keeper or his defence. On the turn, Simpson and Mason put wide before Soham doubled their advantage in the 33rd minute when Andrews laid off Harradine’s pass to the edge of the area where Stanley drove the ball in low at the far post for the striker’s tenth goal since signing for the club in November.
The hosts secured the points with a third goal eight minutes after the restart. Harradine was again involved floating a ball towards the back post where Robbie Mason rose to powerfully head back across goal and in at the near post. Redbridge saw more of the play after this with Soham still edging the possession, although clear cut chances were limited at either end, with Stanley, Reed, Andrews and Mason all having opportunities.
As the game entered injury time, Simpson placed over after Bowditch had parried Mason’s ball, with the striker also heading over with the last effort of the game from Asensi’s through ball.
