Hall hat-trick downs Enfield

Hall hat-trick downs Enfield

Adam Silver30 Sep 2020 - 08:09

A Craig Hall hat-trick along with a Abdishakur Farah goal secured a 4-0 victory for manager George Christou in his first home game.

George Christou was in the Oakside dugout for the first time as he looked to build on Friday night’s victory at Woodford Town as his Redbridge side faced Enfield who had player/manager Jamie Cureton being given the permanent position of manager just a few hours earlier.

Jack Chawner came into the midfield after being duel registered from Aveley whilst Bradley Bennett and Ayub Kadiri followed suit from Tilbury.

The home side came out the blocks quickly creating a couple of early chances , the best of those was headed over by Craig Hall but he soon made amends just moments later when a Chikosi Basden cross dropped kindly to him and he hit a sweet half volley which flew past Laurence Whymark in goal.

Abdishakur Farah then got down the right flank and pout over a telling cross looking for James Barlow in the middle but he just failed to make a connection.

The home side’s dominance soon resulted in a second goal as this time Hall turned provider as he flicked the ball into the path of Farah who took a touch before firing low past Whymark to score his first goal for the club.

Enfield came forward for the first time and Redbridge defender Olamiji Ayoola had to be alert to make the clearance and head away the cross.

From an Enfield corner Redbridge broke away quickly up field as Farah swept the ball out to Terry Amoafo who crossed into the box looking for Hall who got to the ball first but was unable to trouble Whymark in goal.

The away side finally had their first chance of the game when skipper Jack Cousins saw his effort held by George Martin before Olly Miles tried his luck but with the same result.

Enfield were enjoying their best spell of the game and almost got themselves back in the game as Cureton firstly headed wide from a corner before he found himself free in space and although rounded Martin his effort dropped the wrong side of the upright.

With Enfield searching for a way back into the match it was the home side with the final chance of the half as Sam Dickens and Farah combined well with the latter seeing his shot cleared by the legs of Whymark out for a corner.

Redbridge started the 2nd period well with Amoafo firing over before Hall did well to find a cross into the middle but there was nobody on hand to apply the finishing touch.

Enfield were finding it difficult to break through the Redbridge back line who were defending in numbers and showing good awareness , it always felt like the home side needed another goal to kill off the contest and Hall duly obliged as he took a shot which deflected off a defender beating Whymark who was already out of position to put his side 3-0 ahead.

Cureton went close as he hit a shot first time which flew just over the bar before Redbridge went up the other end and via a corner scored again. The ball was swung in from Farah finding the run of Hall which was not picked up and he glanced his header beating Whymark at his near post to claim his hat-trick.

Enfield had a couple of chances to grab what would have been nothing more than a consolation goal but Redbridge continued to defend well.

Chikosi Basden then powered through the gears as he powered towards goal before finally being disposed and with that the referee blew for full time capping a good night for the home side who now move up the table into 8th place and confidently go into next Tuesday’s match against West Essex.
