Redbridge 1 v 0 Brentwood Town - Attendance 48

Adam Silver24 Apr 2010 - 07:52

An own goal gave Redbridge the 3 points at home to Brentwood.

A fine performance from Dave Ross's team saw of 12th placed Brentwood to ensure Redbridge's recent good run continues. James Marrable in goal was hardly by tested by Brentwood's front line and in truth Redbridge controlled the game for long periods, despite having few clear cut chances.

The first chance of the game fell to Redbridge's Wayne Grant. A good ball in from Craig White was headed out by Richard Ketchell, straight into the path of Mark Nougher. Nougher then fed the ball into Wayne Grant who nicked the ball past Darren Blewitt before shooting wide of the goal.

Brentwood carved their sole chance of the first half just after the half hour. A good run by Kris Lee found Ross Parmenter. The midfielder nudged the ball past Donovan Wilson before crossing into the box. Dee Okojie timed his run perfectly to fire a shot goalwards, where Marrable in goal made a smart save to keep the game scoreless.

The last meaningful move of the half almost saw the Motormen take the lead through a moment of individual brilliance. After Grant headed on a Simon Peddie clearance into the path of his strike partner Agdomar, nothing looked on. Somehow with two defenders tightly marking him, the talented attacking player turned both men before shooting a 30 yard shot narrowly over with the bar with Nick Pyne well beaten.

At the start of the second half, Brentwood manager Les Whitton would have wanted more from his side to stop Redbridge dominating the midfield. Richard Priest tested Redbridge five minutes after the restart, when a well timed run and shot went narrowly over the bar.

That alarm got the hosts playing better and after a long spell of pressure they took the lead. Good play innitally from Steve Good found Agdomar on the edge of the box. With brute force and skill Agdomar made his way into the box beating two defenders down the byline. With several of his team mates inside the box the forward played the ball in the danger area where Brentwood's Nathan Fletcher unluckily bundled the ball over the line.

In truth Brentwood did not really threaten to get an equaliser, despite Whitton making late changes. For Redbridge it was another good result as they aim to end the season on a high.
