Redbridge were favourites going into this tie having only lost one home league game so far this campaign.
The Motormen’s current form showed from the off at the Oakside stadium, as their first attack ensued in Daniel Charge being bundled over on the edge of the area but Eljay Worrell struck the resulting free kick just wide of the post.
Ware’s Anthony Anstead was causing the Redbridge back-four some problems with his aerial presence, but Motormen skipper Daniel Smith was controlling the defence well, allowing Anstead to drift offside numerous times throughout the first half.
Redbridge were dominant during the first 30 minutes, with the goal seeming just moments away, but first blood was drawn by the away side. It was Anstead again producing the chance for Ware as he was fouled on the edge of the area, before showing initiative to take the free kick early, playing through Aaron Cato for the opener.
The Motormen were feeling hard-done-by having conceded after such dominance, but things were about to get worse for the home side as Ware’s first-half substitute Tim Shaw showed pace before delivering a perfect ball in to Tony Martin, who only had to tap the ball into the net, making it 2-0 before the break.
Dave Ross and Ricky Eaton must have said some stern words at half time as Redbridge came out all guns blazing after the break. Daniel Charge triggered the comeback for Redbridge with a lovely finish following a defence-splitting pass from Jack Carlile.
The home side now had their tales up and it took just 10 minutes before the equaliser came. Ware failed to clear an untidy goal-mouth scramble, and Redbridge took full advantage when substitute Abs Thompson lashed the ball in for 2-2.
The controversial moment of the match came on 68 minutes as Daniel Charge’s long range effort appeared to have crossed the line after Matt Gill bounced the ball before grasping it. The linesman waved away the protests before Gill eventually admitted the ball was over the line.
With seven minutes additional time to be played, both sides were looking for a winner, but with the home support against them, Redbridge looked the more likely.
Just three minutes into stoppage time, Daniel Charge had won the match for the Motormen. Abs Thompson’s shot was deflected onto the post before bouncing straight back to Charge who slotted the ball home for the winner.
