In form Redbridge hosted Sawbridgeworth Town who themselves were three games unbeaten as they looked to pull themselves away from the bottom reaches of the Essex Senior League.
Michael Corderoy returning to the Motormen for his second spell started in goal whilst several injuries saw the hosts start with just a back three.
An early run out wide by Ibrahim Kehinde saw him cross into the middle but unable to find anyone else in a blue shirt before the same player saw his shot fall into the path of Tayo Josh Olukolo who was unable to sort his feet out in time and failed to get any decent connection.
Sawbridgeworth responded well by coming forward and almost scored when Morgan Arnold got in front of Corderoy and lifted the ball over him but as it dropped down towards the goal but Robbie Norris was able to get back in time and make the clearance.
Redbridge went back on the attack as Kehinde dragged an effort wide before Martin blasted over from close range after a good ball in by Herman Mwanza.
Norris then fired a free kick just over the bar before Jake Brocklebank fizzed a shot just past the upright.
A good breakaway from the away side saw Arnold cross into the middle looking for striker Teddy Hall but good defending saw the move break down.
As half time approached the deadlock was finally broken as the home side took the lead, full back Joe Elliott got forward and saw his cross take a wicked deflection off a defender wrong footing Jimmy Parker in goal before nestling into the back of the net.
It was certainly a game that needed a goal and although the home side deserved their lead Sawbridgeworth would have been disappointed to concede so close to the break.
The last chance of the half fell to Redbridge as Mwanza showed good skill before playing in Martin but the striker chose the wrong option and rather than shoot he decided to square the ball into the middle where no other Redbridge player was waiting.
2nd half
Mwanza who was having a good game forced an early save from Parker who had to rush back into goal after he was almost caught out of position.
Kehinde then did well before he found Sergei Maximov but his shot lacked power and was easily gathered by the goalkeeper.
The game went through a stage of relative quietness before the home side finally doubled their advantage on 61 minutes via a set piece. Norris fired in a corner and Jack Roult got in front of defender to glance his headed beating Parker inside the near post.
Mwanza then flashed a shot wide before Jake Skeet took a tumble in the opposition box however the young referee waved play on whilst the Sawbridgeworth bench were calling for a penalty. Moments later and once again their shouts went unheard as they appealed what seemed like a handball but once again their shout fell on deaf ears.
Substitute Timothy Ogunrinde then saw a shot palmed away and the rebound just eluded fellow substitute Darnell Bromfield.
Sawbridgeworth to their credit never gave up and continued to push forward as Arnold got on the end of a cross only to see his header collected by Corderoy which proved the final chance of the game as Redbridge impressive seasons continues and they stay in 3rd place.
