Redbridge made the midweek trip down the A127 to face White Ensign at Burroughs Park looking to get back to winning ways on the road after losing their last two away fixtures with no goals scored.
They were up against a tricky looking Ensign side who included several duel registered step four Brightlighsea Regent players within their lineup.
Redbridge started the game on the front foot as Jake Brocklebank played a long ball over the top looking for James Barlow who controlled before he tried to make room for a shot but was brought crash down to the ground.
Up stepped Robbie Norris to take the resulting free kick , although his initial effort came back off the Ensign wall he reacted first by firing the rebound goalward which beat Louis Hawes but crashed against the post and away to safety.
Ensign slowly started to get themselves back into the game where from a corner Charlie Adams got Infront of his marker but only proceeded to head the ball down into the ground and the welcome arms of Michael Corderoy.
Redbridge came forward again through the attacking full back Jack Roult, he crossed into the path of Norris but this time his shot lacked any conviction and was easily gathered by Hawes.
The game started to become a little scrappy with Ensign in particular guilty of playing some misplaced passes whilst Redbridge were getting more of the ball but without really threating in the final third.
Ensign were looking dangerous on the break especially through the lively sibling pairing of Rudy and Valter Cachicote da Rocha and were involved in most good things for the home side.
As the first period came to its end Barlow halfhearted penalty appeals were waved away whilst a loose ball by Brocklebank was almost seized upon by “Rudy” who managed to turn and shoot but Corderoy was down low to make the save.
Into the second half and both defences continued to dominate with little action in either goal mouth to report, the best offerings came via a Michael Pindy effort which he dragged wide whilst “Valter” saw a fierce drive comfortably held at the other end.
Redbridge turned to the bench for some inspiration as Shaun Harris replaced a limping Norris whilst Loui Hazlewood came on for Pindy and within minutes he was involved heading over from a Brocklebank cross.
Into the last 10 minutes and the game was still very much there to be won, Redbridge striker Tony Martin failed to keep his shot down as the clock continued to count down.
On 85 minutes the deadlock was finally broken as Redbridge scored a valuable goal, Hazlewood did well out wide crossing into Martin who at first looked like he would shoot however he laid the ball into the path of Barlow who let fly firing across Hawes into the bottom corner.
Into the final moments and Ensign were unable to push forward in search of an equalizer as Redbridge continued to pressure as Hazlewood fired a shot in which Hawes needed to be alert to .
From nowhere six minutes of injury time followed but Redbridge were able to see the win through which keeps them cemented in 3rd position just a point now behind 2nd placed Stansted.
