A changed side for the Motormen as they took on a Cheshunt team whom had knocked them out of this competition last season and it was to be a case of déjà vu.
The home side found it difficult to get any rhythm as the away side dominated possession and it was no surprise when they took the lead after 17 minutes. Good work down the wing finally saw Luke Marshall tapping home a loose ball beating Ryan Karrer in goal.
It was almost two shortly after when Marshall saw Karrer off his line and his chipped effort rebounded back off the crossbar, the resulting effort saw the ball almost trickle over the line.
The away side continued to press looking to extend their lead and got their chance when a penalty was awarded after a trailing leg saw a Cheshunt player brought down. Up stepped Jason Hallett who emphatically thumped the ball home to make it 2-0, Redbridge certainly were glad to hear the half time whistle go
The 1st chance of the 2nd half fell to the home side when substitute Daniel Jones saw his shot easily held by Glenn Williamson and Redbridge shortly after made all their substitutions as they looked to get back into the game but it was still Cheshunt who seemed the most likely to get the next goal.
The Motormen should have pulled one back late on when Vinny Murphy raced clear and with just the keeper to beat he fired his shot wide of the post. George Pullen then had a ferocious shot which Karrer superbly tipped over but from the resulting corner Cheshunt scored their third with a straight forward header and from then on in there was no way back for the home side.
