Redbridge 4 Ekco Whitecaps 1 – Andrew’s cup Quarter final – 30/01/2011

On a bleak windy day the boys took to their task well enough, starting brightly against a well drilled and hard working team. Most of the first 20 minutes was played in the Ekco half.
Eventually the pressure paid off when the ball broke to Chand on the edge of the box; he turned and fired the ball into the net to make it 1 nil to Redbridge 22 minutes gone.
Redbridge continued to press and very quickly found themselves 2 up when Portway lost his marker and pulled back a cross into the path of Chand. His attempt was well saved but the rebound was mopped up by Portway who had continued his run after crossing the ball.

Half time 2 – 0

The second half started but someone forgot to tell Redbridge; Ekco came out storming into the Redbridge half and creating a well worked move that presented them with a goal chance; they did not waste it . Redbridge 2 Ekco Whitecaps 1; 37 minutes played.
It took 10 minutes for Redbridge to get going again; then it was route one football that did the trick a long clearance from Morris was knocked down by Williams into the path of Chand who struck a beauty into the Ekco net. Redbridge 3 Ekco Whitecaps 1; 48 minutes played.
Redbridge continued to press then in the 58th minute Chand knocked the ball down into the feet of Williams who got his shot away quickly; it was well saved but Williams pounced on the rebound and made it four.
The game finished 4-1 to Redbridge; the lads produced a workman like performance against a game Ekco side.
